Vehicle security system
11745699 · 2023-09-05 · ·

A vehicle security system for a vehicle deters break-ins with an infrared sensor that monitors the interior of the vehicle. When movement is detected by the infrared sensor, the lights and sirens of an armed vehicle are activated. The security system automatically arms when the ignition of the vehicle is turned off and automatically disarms when the ignition of the vehicle is turned on.

VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM

A vehicle security system may be automatically activated when a vehicle (e.g., car or truck) is temporarily stopped. Specifically, if a car is stopped at a gas station or other type of temporary stop (e.g., where a car would not be fully closed and locked) the vehicle security system may engage (e.g., based on opening of a gas cap cover). The vehicle security system monitors for theft of contents from inside a vehicle in a temporary stopped state. The vehicle security system may lock different doors based on different conditions. In some cases, only some doors (and not all doors) will be locked. In a temporary stop condition, a vehicle may not be fully locked to engage a standard anti-theft security system. If a driver's attention is diverted during the temporary stopped condition a quick and quiet theft scenario (e.g., a reach and grab) may be attempted.

Active wheel theft prevention

A vehicle includes a first sensor that senses a state of the vehicle and a second sensor that senses outside of the vehicle. A computing device is configured to receive signals from the sensors and to control rotating and turning of the wheels. While the vehicle is parked, the computing device determines according to a signal received from the sensors, that a condition is satisfied. The condition may be associated with a particular wheel. Based on determining that the condition is satisfied, and while the vehicle remains parked, the computing device initiates automatically rotating or turning the particular wheel associated with the condition.

Systems and methods for protecting property

A method and apparatus for protecting property, wherein the method comprises receiving information indicating an attack on the property, determining, from the received information, a type of attack upon the property indicated by the received information, and transmitting a data packet to a receiver, the data packet comprising metadata describing the determined type of attack.

Vehicle to vehicle security

A controller for a first vehicle is configured to, when a security system of the first vehicle is activated, transmit a vehicle-to-vehicle signal to a second vehicle, the signal comprising instructions that, when executed by a controller of the second vehicle, cause the controller of the second vehicle to activate a security system of the second vehicle. A method includes determining whether a security system of a first vehicle is activated and, if it is determined that the security system is activated, transmitting a vehicle-to-vehicle signal to a second vehicle, the signal comprising instructions that, when executed by a controller of the second vehicle, cause the controller of the second vehicle to activate a security system of the second vehicle.

Systems and methods for alerting users of objects approaching vehicles

A system, the system including one or more sensors arranged to detect an area in a proximity of a vehicle and a controller communicatively coupled to the one or more sensors. The controller is configured to determine that an ignition switch of the vehicle is turned off, determine that a user within the proximity of the vehicle based on data from the one or more sensors, determine that an object is approaching the vehicle based on the data, and alert the user of the object.

Point-of-interest-based anti-vehicle theft systems and processes for using the same

A sensing device can include at least one sensor, positioning circuitry, a transceiver, and a computing device in communication with the at least one sensor, the positioning circuitry, and the transceiver. The computing device can determine a location of a vehicle via the positioning circuitry. The computing device can determine that a point of interest (POI) associated with a predefined category of POIs corresponds to the location. The computing device, via the transceiver, can determine that a person is moving away from the vehicle based on a measurement associated with a remote device. The computing device can enter into an armed mode in response to the determinations. The computing device can detect an intrusion into a vehicle while in the armed mode based at least in part on measurements from the at least one sensor. The computing device can generate an alarm in response to the intrusion.

Method for monitoring an environment of a parked motor vehicle comprising an asynchronous camera

A method monitors an environment of a parked motor vehicle that includes an engine, a computer and a monitoring system including an asynchronous camera. The monitoring method includes: a parked vehicle detection step in which the monitoring system detects that the vehicle is parked and the engine is stopped; a movement detection step in which the monitoring system detects if an object is moving in the vehicle environment by movement detection via the asynchronous camera; and a step of waking up the computer in which the monitoring system wakes up the computer.

Rear door warning system

A vehicle includes a rear door, at least one sensor component proximate to the rear door, an alert system, a memory in which program instructions are stored, and a processor operably connected to the alert system, the at least one sensor component, and the memory. The processor executes the program instructions to detect an object within a detection zone of the at least one sensor component relative to the rear door. The processor further activates the alert system in response to the object being within a predefined protection zone of the detection zone when the rear door is not moving.
