Unattended Railcar Motion Control System

A method and mechanism for initiating an emergency stop for an unattended railcar is disclosed. The method may include using a trip arm placed alongside the railway tracks at a designated stop point that may contact a portable trip-cock lever arm that extends out beyond the perimeter of the railcar if the railcar reaches the stop point as it moves along the track. The trip-cock lever arm may be attached to a valve that is connected to the pneumatic brake system of the unattended railcar. As the trip-cock lever arm rotates, the valve may open to release the air pressure in the pneumatic brake system causing the brakes to engage the wheels causing the railcar to stop.

Systems and methods for navigating a vehicle

Systems and methods are provided for vehicle navigation. In one implementation, a system may comprise an interface to obtain sensing data of an environment of the host vehicle. The processing device may be configured to determine a planned navigational action; identify, a target vehicle in the environment of the host vehicle; predict a distance between the host vehicle and the target vehicle if the planned navigational action was taken; determine a current host vehicle stopping distance based on a braking capability, acceleration capability, and speed of the host vehicle; determine a current target vehicle braking distance based on a speed and braking capability of the target vehicle; and implement the planned navigational action when the predicted distance of the planned navigational action is greater than a minimum safe longitudinal distance calculated based on the current host vehicle stopping distance and the current target vehicle braking distance.

TRAVEL ROUTE GENERATION SYSTEM, TRAVEL ROUTE GENERATION PROGRAM, AND TRAVEL ROUTE GENERATION METHOD

A travel route generation system includes: a first collector that collects running location information indicating running locations through which a plurality of vehicles have run; a second collector that collects vehicle-related information related to the plurality of vehicles; a memory that stores the vehicle-related information in association with the running location information; a criteria inputter that receives inputs of screening criteria including a criterion regarding the vehicle-related information; a processor that generates a recommended running route according to the screening criteria and based on the running location information and the vehicle-related information which are stored in the memory; and an outputter that outputs the recommended running route generated by the processor.

Apparatus for prognosing a vehicle brake-system health issue, and processes performed thereby. The apparatus in various embodiments includes a first sensor and a second sensor. In various embodiments, the first sensor is configured to measure a brake system input, such as brake pedal force or displacement, and the second sensor configured to produce output indicative of vehicle deceleration. The apparatus further includes a processing hardware unit, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage device. The storage device includes a prognostic module configured to cause the processing hardware unit to determine, based on the data received from the first sensor and the second sensor, whether there is an existing or potential brake-system health issue. In some implementations, the first sensor or the second sensor is configured to measure brake-line pressure.

This work vehicle is provided with an emergency brake function for quickly bringing said work vehicle to an emergency stop when an abnormality has occurred inside of the vehicle. The work vehicle comprises: a foot brake for braking left and right rear wheels; an autonomous travel unit that enables autonomous travel of the vehicle; and an electric actuator for switching the foot brake between a braking state and a release state. The autonomous travel unit comprises a control unit that controls the operation of the electric actuator. When in an autonomous travel mode, the control unit controls the operation of the electric actuator and switches the foot brake from the release state to the braking state when an abnormality is detected inside of the vehicle on the basis of detection information from a vehicle state detection device for detecting the state of each part of the vehicle, or when an emergency stop command is acquired from a wireless communication device set so as to be capable of wireless communication with the autonomous travel unit.

In a vehicle control system (1, 101, 201) configured for autonomous driving, a control unit executes a stop process by which the vehicle is parked in a prescribed stop area when it is detected that the control unit or a driver has become incapable of properly maintaining a traveling state of the vehicle, and a stop maintaining process for keeping the vehicle parked following the vehicle coming to a stop in the stop process. The control unit keeps the brake lamp turned on while the stop maintaining process is being executed.

A vehicle includes a communicator that is mounted on the vehicle to perform wireless communication with a server and a controller operates the communicator to transmit an accident reception request signal and image data acquired by another vehicle to the server when the vehicle has an accident with an accident target vehicle. The controller operates the communicator to receive a fault ratio from the server when the server generates fault ratio data between the vehicle and the accident target vehicle based on the image data.
