Hydroplaning determination device
A hydroplaning determination device that determines occurrence of a hydroplaning phenomenon in a vehicle includes a tire mount sensor including a vibration detection unit, a signal process unit and a transmission unit, and a vehicle body system including a receiver, a condition determination unit and a hydroplaning determination unit. The vibration detection unit is attached to a rear surface of a tire provided in a vehicle and outputs a detection signal according to a magnitude of vibration of the tire. The signal process unit generates a vibration data based on the detection signal. The hydroplaning determination unit determines, based on the vibration data, whether a hydroplaning phenomenon has occurred when the condition determination unit determines that a road surface condition is a wet condition in which a water film exists between the tire and a road surface.
Dual speed and position wheel transducer
A wheel speed measuring device for an aircraft braking system uses dual technology packaged in a single transducer that incorporates the robust and reliable variable reluctance technology along with a secondary package for measuring position and velocity bi-directionally for low speed and taxi operations. The transducer of the present invention is preferably incorporated into the envelope of the axle to allow both retrofit on existing aircraft and to maintain existing axle design and configuration.
Systems and methods for rapid convergence antiskid initialization
An antiskid controller for controlling braking operation of a wheel of a vehicle based on an output signal provided by a wheel speed sensor coupled to the wheel may comprise a delay toggle, a switch logic for switching between an initial rate and a running rate, and a linear control used for calculating an antiskid correction signal, wherein the linear control receives one of the initial rate and the running rate, depending on a state of the switch logic. The linear control receives the initial rate upon initialization of the antiskid controller. The linear control receives the running rate after a predetermined duration or after the linear control has converged on a desired solution.
System for determining road slipperiness in bad weather conditions
Systems and methods are disclosed for estimating slipperiness of a road surface. This estimate may be obtained using an image sensor mounted on a vehicle. The estimated road slipperiness may be utilized when calculating a risk index for the road, or for an area including the road. If a predetermined threshold for slipperiness is exceeded, corrective actions may be taken. For instance, warnings may be generated to human drivers that are in control of driving vehicle, and autonomous vehicles may automatically adjust vehicle speed based upon road slipperiness detected.
Tire Patch Detection
A detection system for extracting information from a sensor module in a rolling wheel comprises: a sensor module which comprises a sensor adapted for sensing a physical property of the tire when mounted in a tire of the wheel or on an inner surface of a tire of the wheel; an acquisition module adapted for sampling a signal from the sensor module, thus obtaining a sequence of data samples; a correlation module adapted for cross-correlating a signed reference sequence with the sequence of data samples thus obtaining a correlation sequence; an extraction module adapted for identifying at least one perturbation in the correlation sequence, wherein the perturbation is induced when a part of the tire where the sensor is mounted hits the ground thereby forming the tire patch.
Wheel torque sensor for highly automated driving vehicles
A method and apparatus for sensing wheel torque of a highly automated driving (HAD) vehicle includes a wheel hub configured to rotate around a rotation axis as the vehicle moves and a brake caliper, including a brake pad, configured to apply a caliper force to the wheel hub. A reaction carriage is interconnected with the brake caliper and is configured to have a reaction force applied to it when the brake caliper applies the caliper force to the wheel hub. The wheel torque sensor includes a hydraulic chamber having a hydraulic fluid and a pressure sensor, interconnected with the hydraulic chamber, that senses pressure applied to the hydraulic fluid in response to the reaction force.
