A system and method for braking a flat-towed vehicle based upon a braking pressure of a braking fluid in a braking circuit in the towing vehicle, the method includes measuring a piezoresistor voltage drop across a piezoresistor positioned within the braking circuit such that the piezoresistor voltage drop changes in response to the braking pressure within the braking circuit. Based upon the measured piezoresistor voltage drop, a motor frame duration is retrieved. A clutch engages the motor output shaft to initiate a clutch frame. Upon expiration of a programmed clutch delay, a motor frame initiates by supplying power to a motor. Upon expiration of the motor frame duration, power to the motor is interrupted. The clutch continues to be engaged for the duration of the clutch frame. The clutch releases allowing a capstan attached to the clutch to spin freely relative to the motor output shaft.

ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM FOR A TRAILER

An electronic brake system for a trailer with a pneumatic brake installation is disclosed. The electronic brake system comprises a brake controller (18) in the trailer (11) connected to a first communication device (20) that is part of a first communication channel (23) for wirelessly receiving brake signals of a towing vehicle (10). The electronic brake system also comprises a second communication channel for receiving brake signals of the towing vehicle. The brake controller (18) converts the brake signals of the first communication channel (23) into brake commands for the pneumatic brake installation only if brake signals arrive via the second communication channel (24) at the same time or within a defined time window. The time window begins as soon as a brake signal arrives on one of the first and second communication channels (23, 24).

A METHOD AND A SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING VEHICLE SPEED

A device and a method for controlling vehicle speed in a vehicle equipped with brake cruise control when the vehicle is travelling downhill are provided. The method involves driving a vehicle downhill with the brake set speed set to a first brake set speed; detecting a current vehicle speed; automatically applying a brake torque using at least an auxiliary brake to maintain the first brake set speed; and detecting a manual application of a vehicle service brake, in order to decrease vehicle speed. If a control unit detects that the driver is applying the service brake, then the control unit is automatically arranged to set the brake set speed to a second brake set speed that is lower than the first brake set speed; and to apply a brake torque using at least the auxiliary brake if a detected current vehicle speed exceeds the second brake set speed.

BRAKE CONTROLLER AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING BRAKE

A brake controller is applied to a vehicle that includes a tractor and a trailer. The brake controller includes a first braking unit that controls a first brake device, a second braking unit that controls a second brake device, a distance sensor that detects a distance between the vehicle and an object, an execution unit that controls the first braking unit and the second braking unit in accordance with the distance detected by the distance sensor and executes an automatic brake control, and a prohibition unit that prohibits the execution unit from executing the automatic brake control. The brake controller prohibits execution of the automatic brake control under the condition that the tractor and the trailer are coupled to each other and the second braking unit includes a failure.

The method comprises: monitoring with the electronic brake system whether there is a braking demand, monitoring with the electronic brake system whether at least one wheel of at least one axle is locking up, and if there is no braking demand and at least one wheel of the at least one axle is locked while traveling, controlling the pneumatic braking system with the electronic brake system to pressurize the spring-loaded brakes and to brake the trailer vehicle by the service brakes automatically and with anti-lock control. A valve arrangement is also disclosed.

DISC BRAKE TONE RING

An assembly for an induction sensing tone ring is provided. A brake rotor includes a circular pocket. A tone ring is received in the circular pocket of the brake rotor. The brake rotor has a plurality of locating tabs, with each locating tab having a slope surface. The tone ring has a plurality of retaining tabs, with each retaining tab being received between two locating tabs of the brake rotor. A retaining ring is fitted in each locating tab slope surface of the brake rotor to press fit against the retaining tabs of the tone ring.

Brake control unit

Towed vehicles can be extremely heavy. Accordingly, it is too much of a burden to the braking system of a towing vehicle to not have brakes on the towed vehicle. Controlling the brakes of the towed vehicle must be accurately applied otherwise undesirable conditions can be created. There is a need for a method for controlling braking of a towed vehicle. This method comprises receiving a first signal via a communication bus of a towing vehicle, the first signal relating to at least one operating condition of at least one the towing vehicle and a towed vehicle, sending a second signal to brakes of the towed vehicle, the second signal based on said first signal.

A method for adjusting brake pressures on pneumatically operated wheel brakes of a motor vehicle includes adjusting, in a normal braking mode, the brake pressures depending on a driver brake request; and adjusting, by a control unit in a pressure control mode, the brake pressures at the respective wheel brakes during reception of an external brake request, which is independent of the driver brake request and defined for the control unit as an external target deceleration value, as a function of a resulting target deceleration value of the vehicle deceleration. The control unit determines the resulting target deceleration value by linking the external target deceleration value according to the external brake request and a value corresponding to the driver brake request. A braking power index is determined which quantitatively represents the braking effect of the wheel brakes, and is provided to be taken into account in pressure control mode.
