Systems and methods for a braking a vehicle. In one example, the braking system includes a friction braking system, a regenerative braking system, and an electronic processor. The electronic processor is communicatively coupled to the friction braking system and the regenerative braking system. The electronic processor is configured to receive a driver brake request and determine a brake failure state. The brake failure state indicates a brake failure. In response to determining the brake failure state, the electronic processor applies a braking force based on the driver brake request. The braking force includes a frictional braking force generated by the friction braking system and a regenerative braking force generated by the regenerative braking system.

Vehicle braking device

A vehicle braking device performs a following control which makes an actual value of a physical quantity follow a first target value when the actual value of the physical quantity is a value outside a dead zone and a suppression control which suppresses a change of the actual value when the actual value is a value within the dead zone in order to control the physical quantity associated with the braking force to be the first target value. The vehicle braking device comprises a setting portion which sets a second target value which follows the first target value and which is smaller than the first target value, when the first target value is increasing and a control portion which performs a control to make the actual value approximate the second target value.

Vehicle brake device

A control system for preventing sudden acceleration of a vehicle is provided. The system includes a sensor unit that detects engine RPM of a vehicle, a speed, a depressed state of an accelerator pedal, a depressed state of a brake pedal, and vacuum pressure of a brake booster. A hydraulic pressure compensation unit compensates hydraulic pressure of a brake and a controller determines whether the vehicle is suddenly accelerated based on at least one or more items of information of the engine RPM of the vehicle, the speed, the depressed state of the accelerator pedal, and the depressed state of the brake pedal detected by the sensor unit. The controller then compensates braking force of the brake by generating hydraulic pressure through the hydraulic pressure compensation unit when the vehicle is suddenly accelerated.

Vehicle brake system and method for increasing brake pressure in a first wheel brake cylinder and limiting brake pressure in a second wheel brake cylinder of a vehicle brake system

A vehicle brake system and method for increasing the brake pressure in a first wheel brake cylinder and for limiting the brake pressure in a second wheel brake cylinder of a vehicle brake system. The method includes increasing a first brake pressure in the first wheel brake cylinder by controlling/holding a wheel inlet valve in its open state and controlling/holding a first wheel outlet valve in its closed state, and limiting an increase of a second brake pressure in the second wheel brake cylinder during the transfer of brake fluid into the first wheel brake cylinder by controlling/holding a second wheel inlet valve in its closed state and controlling a second wheel outlet valve into its open state. The second wheel outlet valve is controlled with a pulse width-modulated signal so that during the transfer of brake fluid, the second wheel outlet valve is permanently in its open state.

System and method for validating operation of secondary braking system of a vehicle

A method is disclosed for validating operation of a secondary braking system (SBS) of a vehicle having a plurality of brakes, by controlling the SBS and a primary braking system (PBS) of the vehicle. The method may involve using the PBS to generate a first predetermined target braking pressure in the PBS for at least a first one of the brakes, while using the SBS to generate a second predetermined target braking pressure in the SBS for at least a second one of the brakes. Actual and anticipated performance characteristics of a braking component associated with the vehicle are then observed and compared, and from the comparison a determination is made whether the SBS is operating properly.

Brake control apparatus for vehicle

A brake control apparatus includes: a master cylinder that outputs a brake fluid at a master pressure; a master pressure changing device that is configured to change the master pressure irrespective of an operation of a brake pedal; a brake actuator; and a control unit that executes vehicle stability control by changing a brake pressure of a target wheel. Modes of the vehicle stability control include a normal mode and a pseudo mode. In the pseudo mode, the control unit operates the master pressure changing device such that the master pressure obtains a target value of the brake pressure of the target wheel, and changes the brake pressure of the target wheel in an interlocking manner with the master pressure. When the normal mode is unavailable, the control unit executes the vehicle stability control in the pseudo mode.

Method of manufacturing brake boosters

A method of manufacturing vehicle brake boosters includes load testing a plurality of reaction discs and sorting the load-tested reaction discs into multiple, separate batches based on the load test results. A first batch of plunger plates is formed to an axial length to correspond with a first of the separate batches of reaction discs. A first batch of the vehicle brake boosters is assembled with a first one of the multiple, separate batches of reaction discs and the first batch of plunger plates to achieve a target jump-in force. A second batch of plunger plates is formed to an axial length to correspond with a second one of the separate batches of reaction discs.
