An apparatus for removing rust on a brake disk includes: an environment information acquisition unit configured to acquire environment information, a controller configured to perform a function of calculating an amount of generated rust using the environment information, and controlling the rust removal depending on whether or not the amount of generated rust exceeds the preset reference value, and a driver configured to drive a brake system under the control of rust removal.
COMPENSATING THE TEMPERATURE DRIFT OF AN ACCELEROMETER ON BOARD A TWO-WHEELED MOTOR VEHICLE FOR MEASURING VEHICLE TILT
A method for compensating for a temperature drift of an accelerometer for measuring the lateral tilt of a motorbike. When the vehicle is in the “bike upright” condition, and the temperature of the accelerometer is at least 30° C. above its reference temperature, a reading is taken of the acceleration values. These values are then processed in order to identify the coefficient of the slope of the straight line for correcting the offset of each axis of the accelerometer. A processing operation involves verifying the strict monotony of the coefficients in at least two successive readings and ensuring that the mean value thereof is included between determined limits. The mean coefficient that is finally obtained then can be used to correct the temperature of accelerations read over the entire operating range of the accelerometer. Thus, the computation of the tilt angle of the motorbike is more precise.
DIAGNOSTIC TOOL FOR ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEMS
A diagnostic tool connected to an anti-lock braking system (ABS system) is described. The diagnostic tool is capable of powering on the ABS system and measuring the load current of the ABS system while the ABS system starts up. This startup load current signature is then compared to what is considered a normal startup load current signature. Such a comparison allows the diagnostic tool to determine whether the ABS system is functioning properly or whether there is a fault with the ABS system. Additional features on the diagnostic tool also allow the tool to communicate with the ABS system via power-line communications (PLC communications) and to determine whether there are any issues with those communications. Finally, the diagnostic tool is able to receive and translate any stored or active ABS fault codes generated by the ABS system and to display those fault codes to the user.
PROGNOSTICS SYSTEM FOR DETECTING WEAR IN ENCODERS USED TO SENSE WHEEL SPEED IN VEHICLES
A system for detecting wear in an encoder used to sense a wheel speed in a vehicle comprises a sensor configured to sense the wheel speed of the vehicle by sensing a magnetic material on the encoder coupled to a wheel of the vehicle. A noise detection module includes a plurality of noise detectors configured to detect noise in a wheel speed signal generated by the sensor. An estimation module is configured to estimate a state of health of the encoder based on the noise detected in the wheel speed signal and to generate an alert in response to the state of health indicating that an amount of wear on the encoder is greater than a predetermined threshold. A filter is configured to filter the noise in the wheel speed signal and to output a filtered wheel speed signal to a control system controlling stability of the vehicle.
