RICE CULTIVAR CALMOCHI-203

The invention relates to the seeds of rice cultivar Calmochi-203, to the plants of rice Calmochi-203 and to methods for producing a rice plant produced by crossing the cultivar Calmochi-203 with itself or another rice variety. The invention further relates to hybrid rice seeds and plants produced by crossing the cultivar Calmochi-203 with another rice cultivar.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS TO PRODUCE RICE RESISTANT TO ACCASE INHIBITORS
Mutant rice resistant/tolerant to ACCase inhibiting herbicides, in particular FOP herbicides, are listed in Table 1. The ACCase inhibiting herbicides used for selection include quizalofop. An exemplary mutant rice tolerant to an ACCase herbicide is disclosed, with a rice genome having G2096S or the equivalent, in the carboxyl transferase domain of the ACCase coding gene, using the Black-Grass numbering system. This mutation shows differential response to FOPs vs. DIMs herbicides, and a greater differential with comparable non-resistant rice lines. Methods to control weeds and methods to produce herbicide resistant rice including transgenic rice, are disclosed.
RICE CULTIVAR 'PVL04'
A rice cultivar designated PVL04 is disclosed herein. The present invention provides seeds, plants, and plant parts derived from rice cultivar PVL04. Further, it provides methods for producing a rice plant by crossing PVL04 with itself or another rice variety. The invention also encompasses any rice seeds, plants, and plant parts produced by the methods disclosed herein, including those in which additional traits have been transferred into PVL04 through the introduction of a transgene, by breeding PVL04 with another rice cultivar, or by gene-editing rice cultivar PVL04.
Rice cultivar ‘Taurus’
A rice cultivar designated Taurus is disclosed herein. The present invention provides seeds, plants, and plant parts derived from rice cultivar Taurus. Further, it provides methods for producing a rice plant by crossing Taurus with itself or another rice variety. The invention also encompasses any rice seeds, plants, and plant parts produced by the methods disclosed herein, including those in which additional traits have been transferred into Taurus through the introduction of a transgene or by breeding Taurus with another rice cultivar.

A rice cultivar designated ARoma 22 is disclosed herein. The present invention provides seeds, plants, and plant parts derived from rice cultivar ARoma 22. Further, it provides methods for producing a rice plant by crossing ARoma 22 with itself or another rice variety. The invention also encompasses any rice seeds, plants, and plant parts produced by the methods disclosed herein, including those in which additional traits have been transferred into ARoma 22 through the introduction of a transgene or by breeding ARoma 22 with another rice cultivar.

ENVIRONMENTAL MEMORY SEED AND USE THEREOF
The object is to clarify the relationship between environmental stress and seed quality, and to improve the yield and quality of crop seeds by a novel method different from the conventional genetic engineering methods. There is provided a seed of a plant having a promoter with an effectively controlled methylation level for any gene selected from the group consisting of the SLB1 gene, Hd1 gene, AGPS2b gene, GBSSI gene, SuSy2 gene, AMy1A gene, and Amy3D gene or a product thereof, or a harvested product obtained therefrom or a processed product thereof. There is also provided a method for producing a seed of a plant having a useful characteristic, which comprises: the step of cultivating a first generation plant under an environmental stress; and the step of obtaining a seed with environmental stress memory from the cultivated plant or a progeny thereof.
