Spring-loaded non-return valve for a vehicle hydraulic-power brake system, and vehicle power-brake system having the non-return valve

A non-return valve for a vehicle hydraulic-power brake system. The non-return valve has a valve-seat part in the form of an apertured disk, onto which is pressed a valve cage in which a valve ball is disposed as shut-off member and a helical compression spring is disposed as valve spring. A bowl-shaped filter is secured in a depression in the valve-seat part opposite the valve cage.

HYDRAULIC MASTER CYLINDER, A VEHICLE BRAKING SYSTEM AND A VEHICLE

A hydraulic brake master cylinder (12) for a vehicle braking system defines a first smaller fluid path (70, 50, 56, 34, 42, 44) and a second larger fluid path (72, 50, 56, 34, 44, 42) for connecting a working chamber (32) with a fluid reservoir at ambient pressure when the cylinder piston (28) is retracted and the brakes are not applied. A pressure relief valve (76) normally closes the second fluid path but is arranged to open when subject to a pressure differential at or above a threshold value. The first fluid path allows a restricted return flow of fluid to the reservoir should a standard knock-back event occur. If a larger knock-back event occurs causing a fluid pressure spike at or above the threshold value, the pressure relief valve (76) opens to allow a higher volume return flow through the second fluid path to dissipate the pressure quickly.

A hydraulic brake assembly (12) includes a housing (24) having first and second side-by-side bores (30), each defining a respective master cylinder assembly. Each master cylinder assembly includes a master cylinder piston (32) slidably movable by actuation of a respective brake pedal (18a, 18b) to and between an active position and an inactive position. A spool (74) slidably disposed within a piston bore (70) of the master cylinder piston (32) is operable in a first mode to direct hydraulic fluid from a quick-fill chamber (62) to a master cylinder chamber (50) at a first pressure upon initial movement of the master cylinder piston (32) from the inactive position toward the active position. The spool (74) is operable in a second mode to direct hydraulic fluid from the quick-fill chamber (62) to a tank (20) when pressure in the master cylinder chamber (50) reaches a predefined threshold.
