Vehicle and method of controlling vehicle

An ADS performs processing including setting an immobilization command to “Applied” when an autonomous state has been set to an autonomous mode, when an acceleration command has a value indicating deceleration, when an actual moving direction indicates a standstill state, and when a wheel lock request is issued, setting the acceleration command to V1, and setting the acceleration command to zero when an immobilization status has been set to “11”.

Method and device for controlling deceleration of environmentally friendly vehicle

A method for controlling deceleration of a vehicle includes determining, by a controller, a reference deceleration driving distance of the vehicle based on current speed information of the vehicle and stop signal residual time information of a traffic light located ahead of the vehicle, determining, by the controller, whether the reference deceleration driving distance is less than or equal to a distance between the vehicle and the traffic light, and determining, by the controller, a speed profile including an actual deceleration driving distance of the vehicle based on a waiting distance of a waiting vehicle that waits before the traffic light when it is determined that the reference deceleration driving distance is less than or equal to the distance between the vehicle and the traffic light.

VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM

A vehicle control system includes a vehicle estimator and a stop position setter. The vehicle estimator is configured to make determination on whether an entering vehicle entering an oncoming lane from an intersecting road is present, and estimate an overall length of the entering vehicle upon determining that the entering vehicle is present. The intersecting road intersects a traveling road where a vehicle to which the vehicle control system is applied is traveling. The stop position setter is configured to set a stop position of the vehicle based on the determination made by the vehicle estimator as to whether the entering vehicle is present and the estimated overall length of the entering vehicle.

Prediction of driver's intention to stop for engine start/stop

A predictive driver intention to stop (DITS) system for a vehicle having an engine includes one or more sensors configured to measure a set of operating parameters of the vehicle including at least (i) vehicle speed and (ii) vehicle deceleration rate. A controller is configured to identify no-stop braking events and complete stop braking events, and reference a generated baseline probability table indicating a probability of a driver braking to bring the vehicle to a stop, based on at least the vehicle speed and vehicle deceleration rate measured during at least one of the identified no-stop braking events and complete stop braking events. The controller is further configured to predict a DITS event based on the generated baseline probability table, and control operation of the engine based on the predicted DITS event to facilitate reducing vehicle fuel consumption and/or tailpipe emissions.

EVACUATION RUNNING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM

An evacuation running assistance system includes a peripheral environment recognizer to recognize at least a space of a road shoulder and a free space as a non-traffic portion, a time limit setter to set a time limit on the own vehicle for continuing evacuation running, and an evacuation place setter to determine at least one of the road shoulder space and the free space recognized by the peripheral environment recognizer as an evacuation place where the own vehicle is evacuated. A situation determiner determines a situation of an own vehicle as being in one of situations in which evacuation running is to be continued, running of an own vehicle is to be stopped on a lane, and road shoulder evacuation is to be performed based on the time limit. A controller controls the own vehicle based on the situation of the own vehicle determined by the situation determiner.

VEHICLE DECELERATION PLANNING

Techniques for vehicle deceleration planning are discussed. The techniques include determining a first location and a first velocity of a vehicle. The techniques further include determining a second location and a second velocity of an object. Based on the first location, the second location, the first velocity, and the second velocity, a relative stopping distance between the vehicle and the object can be determined. If the relative stopping distance is less than a threshold distance, the first maximum deceleration value can be increased to a second maximum deceleration value, and the techniques determine a trajectory for the vehicle based at least in part on the second maximum deceleration value.

Method for operating a motor vehicle and a motor vehicle

To provide stopping assistance, the disclosure relates to a method for operating a motor vehicle, in which a stopping point for the motor vehicle is determined using a sensor device of the motor vehicle. In the method, the motor vehicle determines a need to stop at the stopping point and initiates stopping of the motor vehicle at the stopping point when the need is present. If the need is absent, a control device of the motor vehicle performs a movement of the motor vehicle or issues a message characterizing the absence of the need to a driver of the motor vehicle. The disclosure further relates to a motor vehicle.

Sharing occlusion data

Techniques are discussed for controlling a vehicle, such as an autonomous vehicle, based on occluded areas in an environment. An occluded area can represent areas where sensors of the vehicle are unable to sense portions of the environment due to obstruction by another object or sensor limitation. An occluded region for an object is determined by the vehicle as part of an occlusion grid, from the perspective of the vehicle. The vehicle may receive another occlusion grid from another source, such as another vehicle or a remote computing device that stores and distributes occlusion grids. The other occlusion grid may be from a different perspective than the occlusion grid generated by the vehicle, and may include occupancy data for the region that is otherwise occluded from the perspective of the vehicle. The vehicle can be controlled to traverse the environment based on the occupancy data received from the other source.
