Method and device for determining an energy consumption when driving a vehicle

A method for determining a measure of energy utilization during operation of a vehicle (100) which has a first power source (101) for generating a first motive force for propulsion of the vehicle (100) in a first direction of travel, and has at least one first brake system which acts against movement of the vehicle (100) in the first direction of travel. For a first period of time when demand for motive force from the first power source is interrupted, estimating energy consumption during operation of the vehicle (100) without demanding brake force from the first brake system, and using the estimated energy consumption during operation of the vehicle (100), without demanding brake force from the first brake system, as a basis for determining a measure of energy utilization during operation of the vehicle (100).

Vehicle

A vehicle includes a front-wheel/rear-wheel motor, a battery and an ECU. The ECU is configured to (i) control the front-wheel/rear-wheel motors, and (ii) control the front-wheel/rear-wheel motors such that a braking torque of a resonance-side motor, when at least one of the rotation speed of the front-wheel/rear-wheel motors is within a resonance range, is smaller than the braking torque of the resonance-side motor, when the rotation speed of the front-wheel/rear-wheel motors are outside the resonance range, and such that the braking torque of a non-resonance-side motor, when at least one of the rotation speed of the front-wheel/rear-wheel motors is within a resonance range, is larger than the braking torque of the non-resonance-side motor, when the rotation speed of the front-wheel/rear-wheel motors are outside the resonance range, during deceleration caused by a braking torque from the front-wheel/rear-wheel motors.

Systems and methods to improve fuel economy using adaptive cruise in a hybrid electric vehicle when approaching traffic lights

A method for controlling a vehicle includes automatically controlling vehicle brakes to decelerate the vehicle at a braking deceleration rate in response to an anticipated stop at a traffic signal and an adaptive cruise control system being active. The method further includes, in response to the vehicle decelerating to an intermediate speed, releasing the vehicle brakes. The intermediate speed is determined such that, at the intermediate speed, a coasting distance to a full stop is approximately equal to a distance to the traffic signal.

VEHICLE CONTROL METHOD AND VEHICLE CONTROL DEVICE

A drive source controller is configured to control a drive torque of a drive source that drives a vehicle. The drive source controller is configured to prohibit acceptance of drive source required torque from a cruise controller when automatic braking control is activated during cruise control, or not output the drive source required torque to the drive source controller when the automatic braking control is activated during the cruise control.

Vehicle

A vehicle is a vehicle on which an autonomous driving kit (ADK) is mountable. The vehicle includes: a vehicle platform (VP) that controls the vehicle in accordance with an instruction from the ADK; and a vehicle control interface that serves as an interface between the ADK and the VP. The VP receives a driver deceleration request in accordance with an amount of depression of a brake pedal by a driver, and receives a system deceleration request from the ADK through the vehicle control interface. During an autonomous mode, the VP specifies the sum of the driver deceleration request and the system deceleration request as a target deceleration of the vehicle.

Autonomous boat launching

A computing device for a vehicle includes a processor and a memory. The processor is programmed to determine that a vehicle destination includes a boat launch and that the vehicle is towing a trailer including a boat. The computing device guides the vehicle at the boat launch to position the trailer to launch the boat.

Electrically actuated mechanical park brake system
11260842 · 2022-03-01 · ·

A park brake system for adjusting a tension in a brake cable that is coupled to a park brake. The park brake system can include a driver that is communicatively coupled to a microcontroller, and an actuator that is rotatably displaceable by operation of the driver. An equalizer assembly can be linearly displaced along the rotating actuator to adjust a tension in the brake cable. The microcontroller can monitor a current being drawn by the driver as the driver is operated, and generate instructions to cease operation of the driver upon the current reaching a predetermined current threshold that corresponds a maximum force that is to be applied by the park brake. The microcontroller can also, when the park brake is being released from a set position, count pulses outputted by an encoder in connection with determining whether the park brake has reached a running clearance position.

A method of operating a driveline including a powersplit transmission is provided. The driveline may be operated in a hydrostatic power transmission mode and a blended hydrostatic/mechanical power transmission mode. The method comprises the steps of providing a hydrostatic circuit, detecting a rapid deceleration of the vehicle, and adjusting a threshold of at least one pressure relief valve forming a portion of the hydrostatic circuit in response to the sudden deceleration. The at least one pressure relief valve facilitates quickly changing the driveline from the blended hydrostatic/mechanical power transmission mode to the hydrostatic power transmission mode.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR VEHICLE ECONOMY IMPROVEMENT

A method and apparatus for evaluating the driving of a vehicle performing a journey on a road network is disclosed. The method comprises determining a fuel usage rate and an engine speed of a vehicle, and determining when the vehicle is coasting based upon at least one of the fuel usage rate and the engine speed of the vehicle. An acceleration of the vehicle, when the vehicle is determined to be coasting, is compared with a predetermined reference acceleration, and an application of braking during the coasting is determined based on the result of the comparison. A method and apparatus is also disclosed for determining a score indicative of the relative amount of time for which the vehicle is coasting without braking during a journey.
