Autonomous vehicle operating status assessment

Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having one or more autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, a computer-implemented method for real-time determination of the status of autonomous operation features of an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be provided. With the customer's permission, the operation of the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be monitored to obtain operating data from one or more autonomous operation features. An operating status of the autonomous features may be determined based upon the operating data. After which, a change in the operating status of the autonomous features may be identified, and a report containing information regarding the change in the operating status of the autonomous features may be generated. Insurance discounts may be provided to risk averse customers that maintain their autonomous vehicles, and associated accident avoidance functionality, in good working condition.

AUTONOMOUS READY VEHICLE

A system and method for interfacing an autonomous or remote control drive-by-wire controller with a vehicle's control modules. Vehicle functions including steering, braking, starting, etc. are controllable by wire via a control network. A CAN architecture is used as an interface between the remote/autonomous controller and the vehicle's control modules. A CAN module interface provides communication between a vehicle control system and a supervisory, remote, autonomous, or drive-by-wire controller. The interface permits the supervisory control to control vehicle operation within pre-determined bounds and using control algorithms.

Method for controlling the speed of a vehicle

A method is provided for controlling the speed of a vehicle that includes a drive train for driving the vehicle and a predetermined preferred speed set. The method includes determining whether or not a substantially constant speed of the vehicle is requested, if it is determined that a substantially constant speed is requested, determining whether the requested speed lies within or outside of the predetermined preferred speed set, and if it is determined that the requested speed lies outside of the predetermined speed set, automatically adjusting the speed of the vehicle to a vehicle speed that is within the predetermined speed set.

VEHICLE TRAVEL CONTROL APPARATUS

A vehicle travel control apparatus includes an actuator and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to determine whether a driver of a vehicle is in an abnormal state where the driver loses an ability of driving the vehicle. The electronic control unit is also configured to stop the vehicle at an abnormality determination time point onward, and control a vehicle speed by using the actuator such that the vehicle speed does not become lower than a lower limit vehicle speed in a period from the abnormality determination time point to a time point when the vehicle is stopped. The lower limit vehicle speed is set in accordance with a road shape influencing timing when a driver of another vehicle traveling behind the vehicle visually recognizes the vehicle.

System and method for controlling semi-autonomous vehicles

A method for controlling a semi-autonomous vehicle modifies a current path for the vehicle desired by a driver of the vehicle. The current path starts at a current position of the vehicle and ends in a target position of the vehicle and the method modifies the current path while preserving the current position and the target position of the vehicle in the modified path. The method overrides the actions of the driver to control a movement of the vehicle according to the modified path.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR OPERATING AN AUTOMATED MOTOR VEHICLE

A method for operating an automated motor vehicle, having the steps: ascertaining of automated driving parameters during a manual controlling of the automated motor vehicle; and defined intervention by the automated motor vehicle in the manual controlling of the automated motor vehicle according to the ascertained automated driving parameters, the defined intervention being carried out corresponding to a degree of agreement of the automated driving parameters with the manual driving parameters inputted during the manual controlling of the automated motor vehicle.

Control to mitigate operator abuse of drivetrain on grade

A method for mitigating powertrain abuse on a grade can include determining the grade a machine is on, the machine including an impeller clutch located between an engine and a powertrain so as to connect and disconnect engine power from the powertrain; and if the grade is over a threshold, a controller ignores any operator input to the impeller clutch such that machine speed retarding is utilized to keep the machine at a proper speed.

VEHICULAR DRIVING CONTROL SYSTEM
20170225677 · 2017-08-10 · ·

A vehicular driving control system for performing vehicular driving control based on automated driving and/or driving assistance is provided. The vehicular driving control system includes a driver operation measuring instrument that measures driving operation of a driver, a user uneasiness degree measuring instrument that measures how large a degree of uneasiness of a user is, and a driving control apparatus. When it is determined that the user feels uneasy based on the user uneasiness degree, the driving control apparatus determines an uneasiness factor serving as a source of the uneasiness based on user property data in relation to a traveling situation of a vehicle. Based on the determined uneasiness factor, the driving control apparatus adjusts a control degree of the vehicular driving control, and changes the vehicular driving control so as to decrease the uneasiness of the user.

VEHICLE OPERATION STATES

Upper and lower limits of one or more parameters are established for each of a plurality of states of operation of a vehicle. One of the plurality of states for operating the vehicle is identified based at least in part on the parameters, data describing a human operator, and data describing an environment around the vehicle. A vehicle subsystem is actuated according to an operation mode corresponding to the current operating state.

Vehicle control method thereof

A vehicle that includes: an input device that is configured to receive a user command from a user; and a controller that is configured to: obtain vehicle driving information, based on the vehicle driving information, control the vehicle to travel autonomously, determine whether the user command is inconsistent with the vehicle driving information, based on a determination that the user command is inconsistent with the vehicle driving information, determine to ignore the user command, in response to a determination to ignore the user command, control the vehicle based on the vehicle driving information without the user command, based on a determination that the user command is consistent with the vehicle driving information, determine to apply the user command, and in response to a determination to apply the user command, control the vehicle based on the vehicle driving information and the user command is disclosed.
