SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DRIVING ASSISTANCE ALONG A PATH
Various aspects of a system and method for driving assistance along a path are disclosed herein. In accordance with an embodiment, a unique identifier is received from a communication device at an electronic control unit (ECU) of a first vehicle. The unique identifier is received when the first vehicle has reached a first location along a first portion of the path. A communication channel is established between the first vehicle and the communication device based on the received unique identifier. Data associated with a second portion of the path is received by the ECU from the communication device based on the established communication channel. Alert information associated with the second portion of the path is generated by the ECU based on the received data.

A driving assist device includes, a traveling environment information acquisition unit, an intersection determination unit, a vehicle position information acquisition unit, a predicted travel path setting unit, a blinker signal acquisition unit, a traffic division information acquisition unit, a determination unit, and a notifier. The determination unit determines whether directions indicated by three factors of traffic division information acquired by the traffic division information acquisition unit; a blinker signal acquired by the blinker signal acquisition unit, and a predicted travel path predicted by the predicted travel path setting unit match each other. When the determination unit determines that directions indicated by two factors of the three factors match each other and a mismatch occurs between the directions indicated by the two factors and a direction indicated by a remaining factor of the three factors, the notifier issues a notification about the mismatch of the direction indicated by the remaining factor.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO INCREASE DRIVER AWARENESS OF EXTERIOR OCCURRENCES
Systems and methods are provided for increasing driver awareness of external audible and visual alerts. The external alerts may be detected by external sensors of a vehicle. Systems may use internal sensors to determine whether a driver of the vehicle appears aware of the external alert or whether the external alert is detectable inside the vehicle. If the driver does not appear aware of the external alert, or the external alert is not detectable inside the vehicle, the vehicle may broadcast an internal alert to the driver. The internal alert may be one or more of a visual alert, an audible alert, or a tactile alert.
Remotely operated automatic driving vehicle with in-vehicle emergency stop feature
A driving control device receives power supply from an accessory battery to operate, controls automatic driving, and outputs a control signal. A steering ECU, a power ECU and a brake ECU instruct a steering mechanism, a PCU and a brake to operate based on the control signal, respectively. An emergency stop switch is operated by an operator. In a case where the emergency stop switch is operated, an interface processing device cuts off a switch to stop the power supply, shuts down the driving control device, and outputs a control signal that causes the steering mechanism, the PCU and the brake to perform an emergency stop operation.

An information providing device includes an external environment recognition unit that recognizes an external environmental situation of a movable body, an information providing control unit that provides a notification of recommended stopping information based on a current indication of traffic signals recognized by the external environment recognition unit, and a determination unit which determines, in the case that a first intersection and a second intersection are positioned in a travel direction of the movable body, whether or not a degree of proximity of the first intersection and the second intersection satisfies a predetermined condition. In the case it is determined by the determination unit that the predetermined condition is satisfied, the information providing control unit prevents the recommended stopping information based on a current indication of the traffic signal belonging to the second intersection from being provided.

A suspension monitoring and adjustment system for an off-road vehicle includes a distance sensor arranged to measure shock displacement of a suspension of the vehicle. The system may include an output device configured to output shock displacement data generated by the distance sensor and a processor or programmable circuit operable to produce a visual representation of the shock displacement data output by the output device. The system may include a processor or programmable circuit operable to generate an adjustment signal based on shock displacement data generated by the distance sensor and a suspension adjuster arranged to adjust the suspension of the vehicle in response to the adjustment signal.

Aspects of the present invention relate to control system (100) for controlling a transition of a vehicle between a first driving mode and a second driving mode. The control system comprises one or more controllers, configured to: receive (302) a first request signal indicative of an occupant-initiated preparatory request; receive (303) a second request signal indicative of an occupant-initiated transition request; determine (304) a first control signal for controlling output of information to an occupant of the vehicle indicative of the driving environment in dependence on receipt of the first request signal; determine (308) a second control signal for causing transition of the vehicle from the first driving mode to the second driving mode in dependence on receipt of both the first request signal and the second request signal; and output (306, 310) the first or second control signal to a vehicle system.
NOTIFICATIONS FROM AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE TO A DRIVER
An autonomous vehicle (AV) implements a notification system that provides notifications to user devices in nearby vehicles to alert drivers of the nearby vehicles of the AV's planned behavior. The notifications are delivered wirelessly and output by the user device to the drivers. The planned behaviors of the AV may not be conveyed by existing mechanisms, such as turning signals or hazard lights. The AV or the receiving user device may determine when an AV's planned behavior may impact a particular driver, and provide relevant notifications to the driver.
