In the case of restarting an internal combustion engine that has been automatically stopped during running, the internal combustion engine is restarted by combustion recovery starting when the rotation speed of the internal combustion engine under the input of a restart request is greater than or equal to a predetermined first rotation speed. In the case of restarting the internal combustion engine that has been automatically stopped during running, the internal combustion engine is restarted by cranking recovery starting when the rotation speed of the internal combustion engine under the input of the restart request is lower than the predetermined first rotation speed. The first rotation speed is set lower at the restart of the internal combustion engine in a sailing stop state than at the restart of the internal combustion engine in a coast stop state.

METHODS AND SYSTEM FOR OPERATING A DRIVELINE

Systems and methods for operating a driveline of a hybrid vehicle are described. In one example, a torque that is produced by an engine is adjusted responsive to a transmission oil temperature and a speed of a torque converter impeller so that temperature of oil in a transmission lube circuit may be maintained at a desired temperature.

An in-vehicle controller includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry stops injection of fuel under a preset fuel cutoff condition including a lockup clutch being in an engagement state. A request for raising heating performance of a heater core is a heater actuation request, and an amount of particulate matter deposited on a filter is a deposition amount. The processing circuitry controls the lockup clutch in a disengagement state when a heater actuation request is generated and the deposition amount is less than a preset deposition amount threshold. The processing circuitry controls the lockup clutch in the engagement state when the heater actuation request is generated and the deposition amount is greater than or equal to the preset deposition amount threshold.

Speed controlling an electric machine of a hybrid electric vehicle

A hybrid powertrain includes an engine having a crankshaft, and an electric motor having a rotor selectively coupled to the crankshaft via a disconnect clutch. The powertrain further includes a transmission having a torque converter that has an impeller fixed to the rotor. A controller is configured to, in response to the engine starting, generate a torque command for the motor that defines a magnitude that is based on a difference between a target impeller speed and a measured impeller speed.

Method for controlling powertrain of vehicle

A method for controlling a powertrain of a vehicle may include: controlling, by a controller, an engine of the vehicle to be operated when an ignition key of the vehicle is in an on state; and determining, by the controller, whether the controller generates a command changing a state of a clutch based on an operation state of the vehicle. The clutch connects or disconnects a crankshaft of the engine and a crankshaft pulley including the clutch. The crankshaft pulley is connected to a generator pulley and an air conditioner compressor pulley via a belt.

Powertrain lash management

Methods and systems are provided for adjusting powertrain torque in a vehicle based on driver intent. Driver intent is inferred based on foot motion inside a foot well monitored via a foot well region sensor and changes in clearance outside the vehicle monitored via a range sensor. By adjusting powertrain torque based on operator foot motion and traffic movements outside the vehicle, frequency of lash transitions can be reduced and lash transition initiation can be adjusted based on expected changes in torque demand.

HYBRID MODULE

A hybrid module includes a housing, an electric motor, a hydraulic coupling, a first clutch, a second clutch, and a flow plate assembly. The electric motor includes a stator fixed to the housing and a rotor rotatable relative to the housing. The hydraulic coupling is at least partially radially inside of the electric motor. The first clutch is for drivingly connecting the rotor to the engine. The second clutch is arranged in parallel with the hydraulic coupling for drivingly connecting the rotor to an input shaft of the planetary transmission. The flow plate assembly is fixed to the housing and includes a first flow plate and a second flow plate. The first flow plate has a radial groove forming a first portion of a radial flow channel. The second flow plate is fixed to the first flow plate and forms a second portion of the radial flow channel.

Control device for vehicle

A control device for a vehicle includes an electronic control unit configured to control release of a predetermined engaging device configured to selectively engage a rotating member of a loaded part that participates in power transmission in a predetermined gear stage among a plurality of engaging devices with a rotating member of a non-loaded part that does not participate in the power transmission in the predetermined gear stage, at the time of selection of the predetermined gear stage of a stepped transmission, and control the predetermined engaging device such that an engagement pressure for bringing the predetermined engaging device into a weak slip state in a range that does not affect the selection of the predetermined gear stage is added, at the time of the selection of the predetermined gear stage and in a predetermined operational state.

Control apparatus for vehicle

A control apparatus for a vehicle that includes an engine includes an electric generator, a lock up clutch, a throttle valve, an electric generator control unit, a clutch control unit, and a throttle control unit. The clutch control unit is configured to control the lock up clutch to an engaged state on the condition that the electric generator performs the regenerative power-generation. The throttle control unit is configured to control the throttle valve openwise on the condition that the electric generator performs the regenerative power-generation. The throttle control unit is configured to control the throttle valve from openwise to closewise on the condition that the lock up clutch is controlled from the engaged state to a disengaged state, with the throttle valve having been controlled openwise in accompaniment with the regenerative power-generation of the electric generator.
