HYBRID VEHICLE AND METHOD FOR ADAPTING A POWER LIMITATION OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A vehicle and method for controlling a vehicle having a traction battery and an internal combustion engine include adapting a power limitation of the internal combustion engine by sensing a currently supplied power level of the internal combustion engine and a current velocity of the vehicle, sensing an ambient temperature of the vehicle and determining an associated ambient-temperature-related weighting factor, sensing an ambient air pressure and determining an associated air-pressure-related weighting factor, determining a thermal load indicator as a function of a ratio of the sensed currently supplied power and the sensed current velocity as well as of the ambient-temperature-related weighting factor, the air-pressure-related weighting factor, and a vehicle-bodywork-related weighting factor, and limiting a maximum supplied power level of the internal combustion engine as a function of the determined thermal load indicator.
System and method for engine control
A method includes reducing automatically a speed of an engine from a first speed value to a second speed value in response to both the first speed value being at or above a first speed threshold value and a rate of change of one or both of (i) engine power and (ii) the engine speed is substantially zero for a designated period.
Vehicle control apparatus
A control apparatus for a vehicle provided with a step-variable transmission which is disposed between drive wheels and a drive power source including at least an engine, and which is shifted by changing operating states of coupling devices, the control apparatus including an engine stability time estimating portion configured to estimate a length of stability time required for stabilization of an output state of the engine, when a determination to implement a power-on shift-down action of the step-variable transmission is made, and a control portion configured to delay a moment of generation of a shift-down command to implement the power-on shift-down action of the step-variable transmission, with respect to a moment of the determination to implement the power-on shift-down action, where the estimated length of stability time is longer than a predetermined value.
Methods and system for operating a driveline disconnect clutch
Systems and methods for operating a hybrid driveline that includes an engine, a motor/generator, and a driveline disconnect clutch are described. The systems and methods may improve vehicle efficiency while providing expected vehicle operation and performance. In one example, transmission line pressure is adjusted to match driveline disconnect clutch torque capacity to driver demand torque.
Method and system for controlling a vehicle propulsion system based upon an adjusted clutch torque capacity
A vehicle propulsion system includes a transmission having manually selectable gear ratios, a manually operable clutch for selectively connecting the transmission to an engine for receiving torque from the engine and transmitting that torque through the transmission for propelling the vehicle, a clutch position sensor that generates a clutch position signal and a controller that is programmed to receive the clutch position signal, determine an actual engine output torque, determine an actual clutch torque capacity value based upon the actual engine output torque and the clutch position signal, determine a difference between the actual clutch torque capacity value and a clutch torque capacity from a torque to position table corresponding to the clutch position signal, determine an adjusted clutch torque capacity based upon the determined difference, and control an operation of the engine based upon the adjusted clutch torque capacity.
DRIVING FORCE CONTROL METHOD AND DEVICE FOR HYBRID VEHICLE
Provided are a driving force control method and device for a hybrid vehicle, each capable of effectively absorbing torque fluctuation of an engine while suppressing deterioration in energy efficiency. The driving force control device for a hybrid vehicle comprises a PCM configured to: estimate an average torque output by an engine; estimate a torque fluctuation component of the torque output by the engine; set a countertorque for suppressing the estimated torque fluctuation component; and control an electric motor to output the set countertorque, wherein the PCM is operable, under a condition that an engine speed is constant, to set the countertorque such that, as the average torque output by the engine becomes larger, the absolute value of the countertorque becomes larger.
Powertrain with anti-shuffle control
Powertrains may include a spring damper between the engine crankshaft and transmission input shaft. In some circumstances, an oscillation known as shuffle may occur in such powertrains. Active adjustment of engine torque is substantially more effective at mitigating shuffle oscillations if the engine torque includes a p-term proportional to displacement of the damper spring in addition to a d-term proportional to the speed difference across the damper. For various reasons, the spring displacement is difficult to measure directly. An observer algorithm is utilized to calculate a current estimated spring displacement based on a crankshaft speed sensor, a transmission input speed sensor, a wheel speed sensor, and past engine torques, using a dynamic model of the powertrain.
Control device
An in-vehicle control device includes: a requested torque calculation unit which calculates a requested torque on the basis of a driving state of a vehicle; a requested torque change amount calculation unit which calculates the amount of change in requested torque per unit time as a requested torque change amount; an estimated generation torque calculation unit which calculates estimated generation torque estimated as being generated by an engine; an estimated generation torque change amount calculation unit which calculates the amount of change in estimated generation torque per unit time as an estimated generation torque change amount; and an abnormality detection unit which detects an abnormality of the engine on the basis of the integrated value of a difference between the requested torque change amount and the estimated generation torque change amount, and outputs abnormality determination for the engine.
Hybrid vehicle and method of reducing engine lugging
A vehicle includes an electric machine, an engine, an engine mount, and a controller. The engine has a base speed that corresponds to a speed of the electric machine and an engine power demand. The engine mount is disposed between the engine and a vehicle structure such as a frame or unibody. The controller is configured to, in response to compression of the engine mount, increase an engine speed to a value that is greater than the base speed to reduce engine lugging.
METHOD FOR STOPPING AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE

The method includes detecting that at least a portion of the vehicle is located above the protrusion or recess, in response to said detection, initiating a stop of the vehicle. Detecting that at least a portion of the vehicle is located above the protrusion or recess may include detecting an increase in engine torque or power, and/or detecting a difference in vehicle-to-ground distance.
