HEV engine start vibration reduction system
A hybrid electric power-split vehicle, equipped with a continuously variable transmission coupling an electric motor/generator (EM) with a combustion engine (CE), includes systems and methods that reduce possible resonant noise and vibration during CE startup, by improved EM control, to generate compensating EM torque to counter act such possible resonant noise and vibration. The systems and methods include predetermined baseline CE operating condition (OC) cranking torque profiles stored as OC grids (SOCGs). A start profile is generated from selected cranking torque SOCGs, and also from selected historical start OCGs (HOCGs) of prior engine and/or CE starts, which include prior start noise and vibration metrics along with prior start OCs and related parameters. The start profile is calibrated using a blend factor that is generated from comparisons of SOCGs, and utilized to generate a feed-forward torque signal that adjusts EM torque to reduce the startup noise and vibration resonances.

A vehicle system vibration suppression control device is provided for a vehicle system in which a vehicle is driven via an elastic shaft by a motor drive device having a torque control function. The vehicle system vibration suppression control device includes: a section containing an approximate model to which an output torque command is inputted; and a feedback control section. The feedback control section is configured to: employ the approximate model; calculate a motor-accelerating torque component by differentiating a measured speed component of a motor rotational speed; produce a compensation torque component by causing the motor-accelerating torque component to pass through a vibration suppression control filter; and calculate the output torque command by subtracting the compensation torque component from an input torque command. The vibration suppression control filter is expressed by a second order mathematical expression.

An apparatus for active vibration control of a hybrid electric vehicle including an engine and a motor is disclosed. The apparatus includes: a position sensor to detect position information of the engine or the motor; and a controller to select a reference angle signal based on a signal from the position sensor. The controller performs fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis by generating a reference angle, extracts a vibration component of each frequency through the FFT analysis, generates a reference signal by performing inverse FFT, and performs active vibration control of each frequency by reflecting a basic amplitude ratio, an adjustable rate according to an engine load, and an engine torque to the reference signal.

An apparatus for extracting vibration of a hybrid electric vehicle includes: an engine and a driving motor, which are power sources; a starter motor/generator connected to the engine; and a control unit configured to measure a motor speed of the starter motor/generator, to generate a speed variation quantity based on the motor speed of the starter motor/generator, to calculate a vibration frequency of the engine when the speed variation quantity exceeds a reference value, to set a filter band based on the vibration frequency of the engine, and to extract, with the filter band, a vibration of the engine.
Method and apparatus for vibration damping in a powertrain system
A powertrain system including an electric machine rotatably coupled to a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine via a belt is described, wherein the electric machine is disposed to generate torque. A method for controlling the electric machine includes monitoring rotational position of the electric machine, and periodically executing a speed observer to determine a rotational speed of the electric machine based upon the monitored rotational position of the electric machine. An acceleration observer is periodically executed to determine an acceleration rate, wherein the acceleration rate is determined based upon a time-based change in the rotational speed of the electric machine. A virtual inertia term is determined based upon the acceleration rate, and a torque compensation term is determined based upon the virtual inertia term and the acceleration rate. The electric machine is controlled to generate torque based upon the torque compensation term.
