METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DETERMINING FUEL QUALITY
Methods and systems are provided for calculating a fuel aging of fuel in a fuel tank. In one example, a method may include alerting a vehicle operator and/or adjusting engine operating parameters in response to a fuel aging being greater than a threshold aging.
Hybrid vehicle and control method of gear shift therefor
A hybrid vehicle and a control method of gear shift therefor are provided. The hybrid vehicle and the control method of gear shift therefor minimize torque fluctuation during gear shift to enhance driving force and fuel efficiency. The method includes predicting a time point when gear shift occurs and estimating an intervention amount of the gear shift. Engine torque corresponding to the estimated intervention amount is then reduced up to the time point when the gear shift occurs and motor torque corresponding to the reduced engine torque is increased up to the time point when the gear shift occurs.
DYNAMIC TORQUE MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES FOR ENHANCED ENGINE CYCLE EFFICIENCY
One embodiment is a method of operating an electronic control system (ECS) to control an engine to propel a vehicle. The method comprises receiving a throttle command, determining an operation to increase engine cycle efficiency by reducing engine torque below a magnitude corresponding to the throttle command and below a torque curve limit over a first vehicle operation segment and permitting an increase in engine torque above the torque curve limit over a second vehicle operation segment, controlling the engine to output torque below the magnitude corresponding to the throttle command and below the torque curve limit over the first vehicle operation segment, and controlling the engine to output torque above the torque curve limit over the second vehicle operation segment in response to a second received throttle command and constrained by an extended limit on operation of the engine above the torque curve limit.
CONTROL DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR HYBRID VEHICLE
A control device for a hybrid vehicle calculates a required drive force based on an accelerator position. The control device also calculates a required torque of the engine based on the required drive force. The control device further calculates a target torque for the engine by subjecting the required torque to a gradual change process for lessening a change in a value and performs an engine control such that an engine torque becomes equal to the target torque. The control device also performs a torque control on the motor such that a drive force of the hybrid vehicle becomes equal to the required drive force in a state in which the engine torque is equal to the target torque.
Hybrid vehicle and control method for hybrid vehicle
A hybrid vehicle includes an engine that has a particulate matter filter, a motor, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to control the engine and the motor such that an intermittent operation of the engine is permitted and the hybrid vehicle travels with required power when a vehicle speed is lower than a first predetermined vehicle speed. The electronic control unit is configured to inhibit the intermittent operation of the engine when a deposition amount of particulate matters is equal to or greater than a first deposition amount and a state in which the vehicle speed is equal to or higher than a second predetermined vehicle speed and is lower than the first predetermined vehicle speed is continued for a first predetermined time.
Control device for vehicle
A control device for a vehicle includes a failure detector to detect failure in a cooling device to cool an internal combustion engine of the vehicle. An acceleration operation sensor is to detect an acceleration operation amount indicating a target acceleration. Circuitry is configured to control a power output from the internal combustion engine in accordance with the acceleration operation amount, control an air fuel ratio of air-fuel mixture in the internal combustion engine to be in a richer side with respect to a predetermined air fuel ratio if the acceleration operation amount exceeds a high load threshold, limit the power output from the internal combustion engine if the failure detector detects the failure, and prohibit the air fuel ratio from being controlled to be in the richer side even if the acceleration operation amount exceeds the high load threshold if the failure detector detects the failure.
VEHICLE CONTROL APPARATUS
A vehicle control apparatus for a vehicle includes a catalyst deterioration diagnosing unit, an engine controlling unit, and a diagnosis start determining unit. The catalyst deterioration diagnosing unit executes a deterioration diagnosis of a catalyst included in an exhaust system of an engine provided in the vehicle. The engine controlling unit controls an air-fuel ratio of the engine to a lean side and thereafter to a rich side during the deterioration diagnosis of the catalyst. The diagnosis start determining unit prohibits the deterioration diagnosis of the catalyst from being executed when a deceleration rate upon deceleration of the vehicle is high, and permits the deterioration diagnosis of the catalyst to be executed when the deceleration rate upon deceleration of the vehicle is low.
METHOD TO OPTIMIZE ENGINE OPERATION USING ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT
A method for operating an internal combustion engine comprises providing a vehicle having an internal combustion gasoline engine including multiple cylinders and wherein the engine is operating in a deactivated cylinder mode, receiving a torque request if a cylinder reactivation torque smoothing mode is active, setting a variable torque ratio to 1.0 if the torque request is greater than a fast exit threshold torque, setting the variable torque ratio to 0.0 if the torque request is less than a slow exit threshold torque, setting the variable torque ratio to a value between 0.0 and 1.0 if the torque request is between the fast exit threshold torque and slow exit threshold torque, and calculating a component of final engine output torque.
Vehicle control system
A vehicle control system is provided to promptly execute an ignition retard of the engine during shifting a gear stage in such a manner as to prevent an engine misfire, while switching air/fuel ratio from lean-burn ratio to stoichiometric ratio. An air/fuel ratio is switched between a stoichiometric ratio and a lean-burn ratio based on an operating point of an engine determined based on an engine speed and an engine torque. If a shifting operation of gear stage and a switching operation of the air/fuel ratio from the lean-burn ratio to the stoichiometric ratio are expected to be executed simultaneously, a controller delays the shifting operation of gear stage until completion of the switching operation of the air/fuel ratio.
