Parameter sets for vehicles

In some examples, a controller determines a target condition of usage of a vehicle, and selects a parameter set from among a plurality of parameter sets based on the determined target condition of usage of the vehicle, the plurality of parameter sets corresponding to different conditions of usage of the vehicle, where each parameter set of the plurality of parameter sets includes one or more parameters that control adjustment of one or more respective adjustable elements of the vehicle. The controller transmits, to the vehicle, the selected parameter set to control a setting of the one or more adjustable elements of the vehicle.

A vehicle, in the drivetrain of which a clutch, in particular a wet-running multi-disc clutch, is connected as a starter element between an internal combustion engine and a transmission, having a clutch controller, which, as a function of current driving operation parameters, determines a setpoint clutch torque and actuates a clutch actuator with a manipulated variable correlating with the setpoint clutch torque, in order to set at the clutch an actual clutch torque, which manipulated variable is determined as a function of the setpoint clutch torque and of a coefficient of friction stored in the clutch controller in an actuation unit of the clutch controller, and having an engine controller, which determines an actual engine rotational speed and an actual engine torque, and, in a stationary state of the vehicle with the internal combustion engine running, regulates the actual engine rotational speed to a predefined idling rotational speed.

Methods and system for managing wheel creep torque of a vehicle

Systems and methods for operating a vehicle that includes an engine and an electric machine are described. In one example, electric machine torque is adjusted according to a wheel torque in a wheel torque creep mode where an engine provides torque to vehicle wheels. Operating the electric machine in this way may allow the electric machine to emulate wheel creep torque that is generated via an engine.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EMISSIONS MITIGATION ON A HYBRID VEHICLE

A system for emissions mitigation for a hybrid automobile vehicle includes an automobile vehicle provided with motive power from: a battery pack; an engine; and a controller in communication with the battery pack and the engine. A threshold battery pack state-of-charge (SOC) is predetermined. A minimum battery pack SOC is less than the threshold battery pack SOC. An engine-on charge depletion (EOCD) command is issued by the controller to start the engine in an engine-catalyst light-off operation condition when the vehicle is operating using power from the battery pack and when the threshold battery pack state-of-charge (SOC) is reached to mitigate against exceeding vehicle emissions standards.

Method for managing a transient phase of the starting of a heat engine by an electric motor

Disclosed is a method for managing the starting of a combustion engine of a hybrid drive system including a combustion engine and an electric machine, as well as a drive shaft, the electric machine producing torque to start the combustion engine and drive the drive shaft at least during an initial phase of the start. In a transient starting phase, the combustion engine drives the drive shaft and the electric machine is stopped. The electric machine is regulated, during the initial phase and transient phases, with a first engine speed setpoint. The transient phase begins when the drive shaft reaches the first engine speed setpoint and remains steady. Torque control produced by the electric machine during the transient starting phase being configured so that the electric machine is stopped as soon as the control determines that the torque produced by the electric machine is tending toward zero torque.

Controlling engine idle sailing in a vehicle using relative vehicle speed

A method can include: detecting a distance between the host vehicle and a preceding vehicle and a current speed of the preceding vehicle; calculating a relative speed of the host vehicle with respect to the preceding vehicle based on a current speed of the host vehicle and the detected current speed of the preceding vehicle; determining whether to activate an engine idle sailing (EIS) function, in which a driving gear of the host vehicle shifts to neutral, based on the relative speed of the host vehicle with respect to the preceding vehicle and the detected distance between the host vehicle and the preceding vehicle; and in response to determining to activate the EIS function of the host vehicle, controlling operation of the host vehicle so as to activate the EIS function of the host vehicle, causing the driving gear of the host vehicle to shift to neutral.

Method and system for engine idle speed control

Methods and systems are provided for improving fuel economy by opportunistically lowering engine idle speed below a base idle speed when electrical loads are not present. A hydraulic brake pressure is increased when the idle speed is raised, in anticipation of vehicle propulsion. The brake pressure counteracts any creep torque and unintended vehicle acceleration resulting from the rising engine idle speed.

Vehicle control device

The purpose of the present invention is to improve fuel efficiency during coasting by calculating, with high accuracy, travel resistance during coasting. This vehicle control device comprises: a first travel resistance acquisition unit that acquires a first travel resistance, which is determined on the basis of road information or external information; and a second travel resistance acquisition unit that acquires a second travel resistance, which is determined on the basis of the result of actual traveling of the vehicle. This vehicle control device determines the content of coasting travel control during traveling of the vehicle on the basis of the result of a comparison of the first travel resistance and the second travel resistance in a predetermined zone where the vehicle has actually traveled.

A through the road (TTR) hybridization strategy is proposed to facilitate introduction of hybrid electric vehicle technology in a significant portion of current and expected trucking fleets. In some cases, the technologies can be retrofitted onto an existing vehicle (e.g., a trailer, a tractor-trailer configuration, etc.). In some cases, the technologies can be built into new vehicles. In some cases, one vehicle may be built or retrofitted to operate in tandem with another and provide the hybridization benefits contemplated herein. By supplementing motive forces delivered through a primary drivetrain and fuel-fed engine with supplemental torque delivered at one or more electrically-powered drive axles, improvements in overall fuel efficiency and performance may be delivered, typically without significant redesign of existing components and systems that have been proven in the trucking industry.
