Vehicle control system and method for implementing safety procedure
A system includes a safety mode activation device disposed onboard a vehicle system and operatively connected to a controller of the vehicle system. The safety mode activation device is configured to receive a status signal indicating a presence of one or more of an operator or an active work marker in a location proximate to the vehicle system. The safety mode activation device is further configured to transmit a lockout signal to the controller to prevent movement of the vehicle system along a route responsive to receiving the status signal.
NON-STOP TRAIN WITH ATTACHING AND DETACHING TRAIN CARS
A non-stop train system including a plurality of train cars in communication with one another and in communication with an electronic control module. The train system further includes a track having a plurality of drop off and pick up locations. A prepositioned train car is stopped on the track at one of the drop off and pick up locations. A non-stop express train approaches the drop off and pick up location on the track initiating the prepositioned train car to begin departure. The electronic control module is used to adjust the speed of the non-stop express train and the prepositioned train car based on a detected distance such that a front coupler of the non-stop express train couples to the rear coupler of the prepositioned train car while moving along the track.
Ground apparatus and ground apparatus system for train platform door opening and closing synchronization through ground apparatus communication networking
In a ground apparatus system, polling communication where a ground apparatus serves as a primary station and a train serves as a secondary station is performed. A ground apparatus that is a ground apparatus of the ground apparatus system and is capable of communicating with a platform screen door control apparatus performs polling communication at a first communication frequency to obtain train location information from the train. When the train reaches an impending arrival range including a stop position at a station, the ground apparatus switches the communication frequency to a second communication frequency higher than the first communication frequency. The apparatus then transmits, to the train through polling communication, synchronized opening and closing control instruction information received from the platform screen door control apparatus, and transmits, to the platform screen door control apparatus, train state information obtained from the train through polling communication.
Vehicle communication system
A communication system includes a first communication device disposed onboard a displaced vehicle. The first communication device communicates with a second communication device onboard a lead vehicle of a vehicle system for the lead vehicle to remotely control operation of the vehicle system. The first communication device receives a reconfiguration signal from the second communication device. A remote control (RC) communication device is disposed onboard the first displaced vehicle. The RC communication device wirelessly receives a control signal from an operator control unit (OCU) for the OCU to remotely control the first displaced vehicle. A communication controller reconfigures the RC communication device to repeat the control signal from the OCU responsive to the first communication device of the first displaced vehicle receiving the reconfiguration signal from the second communication device of the lead vehicle or another reconfiguration signal from an off-board or on-board location.
ALERTING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system is provided that include at least one positioning system that can detect a location or position of a vehicle or a portion of a vehicle group that includes the vehicle, at least one sensor positioned on or associated with the vehicle that can generate sensor data of a determined parameter or condition, and a controller in communication with the sensor and the positioning system. The controller can determine that a hazard event has occurred based at least partially on sensor data, and can communicate a hazard event notification based at least in part on the location data and the sensor data to a remote server.
Wireless train management system
A train system is provided that includes a train set including at least one railway car, at least one first set of two trackside points located along a path of the train set, at least one second set of two trackside points, at least one RFID tag located at each of the trackside points configured to store dynamic and static characteristics of the train set as it passes the at least one first set of two trackside points, at least one RFID tag located at each of the at least one first set of two trackside points and the at least one second set of two trackside points, the at least one RFID tag being configured to store characteristics of the train set as it passes the at least one second set of the at least two track points, and at least one RFID tag reader connected to a network.
Monitoring and controlling of distributed machines
According to various aspects, exemplary embodiments are disclosed of apparatus and methods for monitoring and controlling distributed machines. In an exemplary embodiment, a network includes machines each having sensor(s) and/or actuator(s). Each machine has a node resident on the machine and/or in communication with the machine and that provides raw data from the sensor(s) and/or actuator(s). Each node has a network interface, and a processor and memory configured as a node agent to embed the raw data in message(s) without reformatting the raw data. An engine receives and reformats messages from the node agents without reformatting raw data embedded in the messages. The engine directs the reformatted messages including the raw data to user device(s) for use in managing machine activity and/or status. The engine also sends a message from a user device to a node of a given machine, for use in controlling activity and/or status of the given machine.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DECENTRALIZED RAIL SIGNALING AND POSITIVE TRAIN CONTROL
Systems and methods are provided for decentralized rail signaling and positive train control. A decentralized train control system may include a plurality of wayside units, configured for placement on or near tracks in a railway network, and one or more train-mounted units, each configured for use in a train operating in a railway network that support use of the decentralized train control system. Each train-mounted unit may configured to receive communicate with any wayside unit and/or train-mounted unit that comes within range, with the communicating including use of ultra-wideband (UWB) signals, and for generating control information based on the UWB signals, for use in controlling one or more functions associated with operation of the train.
Wireless communication apparatus, wireless communication system, wireless communication method, control circuit, and recording medium
A wireless communication apparatus that allocates radio resources is a base station or a mobile station that transmits a data series on a frequency channel in a frequency hopping pattern corresponding to a radio resource time slot. The apparatus includes a transmission quality measurement unit that measures radio waves in a frequency band used in the transmission of the data series and evaluates transmission quality, and the radio resources including a reserved resource and spare resources, a resource allocation unit that allocates, to the mobile station lower than or equal to a threshold value in transmission quality of a frequency channel used in a reserved resource time slot, a time slot that improves frequency channel transmission quality, of spare resource time slots.
