A railway crossing programmable device includes a communication module in signal communication with a central server for authentication of a user to use the programmable device to modify the railway system circuit. The programmable device further includes a circuit modification module configured for electrical coupling to a railway system circuit for modifying an electrical connection of the railway system circuit in a programmed manner. The programmable device further includes a user interface configured to receive user data and display output information related to at least one of a user, a device, and a circuit modification.

Highway crossing out-of-service controller
10730540 · 2020-08-04 · ·

A system for selectively disabling highway crossing equipment includes a timer for controlling a maximum out of service time for the highway crossing equipment, a switch for controlling disablement of the highway crossing equipment, and control circuitry responsive to the timer and the switch. The control circuitry disables the highway crossing equipment in response to an input received from the switch before the maximum out of service time has been reached and re-enables the highway crossing equipment in response to a subsequent input from the switch received before the maximum out of service time has been reached. The control circuitry places the highway crossing equipment in a failsafe condition when the maximum out of service time has been reached without receiving the subsequent input from the switch.

An advanced preemption system may comprise at least one motion detector and at least one advanced preemption processing system in communication with the at least one motion detector. The at least one motion detector may be configured to detect motion within at least one motion detection zone, the at least one motion detection zone containing a section of railroad track outside of a track circuit containing a railroad crossing where a thoroughfare crosses the railroad track. The at least one advanced preemption processing system may be configured to receive, from the at least one motion detector, an indication that motion has been detected within the at least one motion detection zone and activate at least one traffic control element for the thoroughfare before a train enters the track circuit.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ULTRA-WIDEBAND (UWB) BASED SUBWAY PERSONNEL DETECTION
20200166624 · 2020-05-28 ·

Systems and methods are provided for subway personnel detection. An ultra-wideband (UWB) based detection of objects in subway tunnels may include transmitting UWB signals into an area within a subway tunnel, the area including one or more tracks traversed by trains running in the subway tunnel, receiving UWB signals within the area, and processing received UWB signals to enable detecting objects within the area. The processing may include identifying received UWB signals corresponding to echoes of the transmitted UWB signal transmitted by the detection devices, and detecting based on the echoes of the transmitted UWB signals when an object is present within the area. The object may be assessed, such as to determine when the object represents an intrusion within the area of the subway tunnel.

Railroad crossing and adjacent signalized intersection vehicular traffic control preemption systems and methods
10665118 · 2020-05-26 · ·

A traffic control preemption system monitors an operating state of a railroad crossing, without requiring an interface with railroad crossing equipment, and communicates information to a traffic controller of an adjacent signalized roadway intersection to improve vehicular traffic flow at the railroad crossing. The traffic control preemption system is configured to make real time health assessments of preemption system functionality and provide a degree of redundancy and failsafe operation to the traffic control system.
