ENHANCED STEERING OPERATION

An operation mode of a first actuator engaged with a steering rack is determined. An operation mode of a second actuator engaged with a steering column is determined. The operation mode of one of the first and second actuators is adjusted upon detecting a failure in the other of the first and second actuators. At least one of the steering rack and the steering column is actuated based on the operation mode. In an angle control mode, a predetermined steering angle is provided to the first and second actuators to adjust the steering rack according to the steering angle. In a torque control mode, a steering column torque from a torsion sensor disposed on the steering column is provided to the first and second actuators to adjust the steering rack according to the steering column torque.

A method for adapting an actual steering wheel angle of a steering wheel and an actual wheel steering angle of a wheel steering system in a motor vehicle after an automated driving maneuver has been executed. The method includes detecting the actual steering wheel angle by a steering wheel angle-detection device and the actual wheel steering angle by a wheel steering angle-detection device, adapting the actual steering wheel angle by a steering wheel-actuation device and/or the actual wheel steering angle by a wheel steering-actuation device based on a transfer strategy within a predefined transfer time. Also disclosed is an associated device.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A STEERING SYSTEM
20170137060 · 2017-05-18 ·

A method is described for operating a steering system (2) of a motor vehicle. A steering means (8) is connected to a steering gear (14) by means of an active steering system (4). During autonomous operation of the motor vehicle, a driver's intervention (40) in the steering means (8) is determined. The active steering system (4) is operated in such a way that a coupling (30) between an angle (26) of the steering means and an angle (28) input into the steering gear (14) is adjusted depending on the thus determined driver's intervention (40).
