Steering rack bending limiter and steering assembly therewith
A steering assembly includes a housing having a bore, and a non-plastic support ring disposed within the bore. The non-plastic support ring has an annular wall with an outer periphery and an inner periphery. A plurality of rack engagement features extend radially inwardly from the inner periphery of the annular wall. The plurality of rack engagement features are arranged to engage a steering rack to prevent bending of the steering rack.
VEHICLE STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY
A vehicle steering rack assembly includes a tube section and an anti-rattle device. The tube section includes a rack and pinion steering gear assembly and a main rod that extends through the tube section. The main rod moves in a longitudinal direction within the tube section in response to rotation of a pinion gear of the rack and pinion steering gear assembly. The anti-rattle device is attached to the tube section and has at least a first pad that extends into the tube section and is biased to move into contact with the main rod to reduce radial motion (vibrations or rattles) of the main rod.
Rack guide
Proposed is a rack guide which achieves a stable feed of a lubricant from a rack bar to a lubricant retaining groove when the rack bar slides against the rack guide. A lubricant retaining groove is arranged in the supporting surface, the lubricant retaining groove being configured to extend in a rack guide transverse direction perpendicular to a rack guide longitudinal direction and retain a lubricant located between a rack bar and a supporting surface. The lubricant retaining groove has a ship-bow-shaped lubricant introducing area into which the lubricant is introduced and a lubricant retaining area connected to the lubricant introducing area and configured to retain the lubricant introduced from the lubricant introducing area. The lubricant retaining area of the lubricant retaining groove is provided in a contact area of the supporting surface.
