STEER-BY-WIRE STEERING SYSTEM COMPRISING A STEERING WHEEL ROTATION LIMITING DEVICE
The present disclosure relates to a steering system comprising a steering wheel rotation limiting device being arranged radially offset to the steering wheel hub and comprising a base being fixed to the or another non-rotatable component of the steering system, the base comprising two opposing end stop surfaces and comprising a sliding element being axially slidable parallel to the axis of rotation relative to the base and relative to the steering wheel hub between the two opposing end stop surfaces. The sliding element comprises a projection that engages a spiral groove formed on a circumferential surface of the steering wheel hub so that rotation of the steering wheel hub causes axial movement of the sliding element, and so that abutment of the sliding element with one of the two end stop surfaces blocks movement of the sliding element and rotation of the steering wheel hub.
Handwheel Actuator Modular Interface
A handwheel actuator for a steer by wire system may include a feedback actuator and a column for operably coupling a handwheel to the handwheel actuator. The column includes a column shaft extending from a first end of the column to a second end of the column. The feedback actuator is operably coupled to the second end of the column and provides tactile feedback to an operator responsive to movement of the handwheel. The feedback actuator includes a torsion bar coaxial with the column shaft. The column shaft is supported relative to a housing of the column by a first column shaft bearing disposed proximate to the first end of the column and a second column shaft bearing disposed proximate to the second end of the column. The torsion bar extends into the column shaft past the second column shaft bearing and is operably coupled to the column shaft via a removable fastener disposed at a portion of the torsion bar that extends past the second column shaft bearing.
Apparatus for a Steering System of a Motor Vehicle, Motor Vehicle, Method for Operating a Steering System of a Motor Vehicle
An apparatus for operating a motor vehicle, wherein the steering system comprises an actuatable steering handle and a steerable wheel, wherein the steering handle is mechanically decoupled from the wheel such that an actuation of the steering handle is independent from a steering of the wheel, wherein the steering handle is associated with a controllable steering handle actuator for generating a torque acting on the steering handle, and wherein the wheel is associated with a controllable wheel actuator for influencing a wheel steering angle of the wheel, with a computing device configured to control the steering handle actuator and the wheel actuator. The computing device is configured to specify a target manual torque (HM.sub.Target) for the steering handle as a function of a target variable specified by a driving assistance system and to control the steering handle actuator as a function of the specified target manual torque (HM.sub.Target).
STEERING DEVICE
A steering device includes a steering shaft, a motor, a stopper mechanism, and a controller. The controller is configured to execute a first process and a second process when a determined condition is established. The first process includes causing the steering wheel to operate to a first operation end through control of the motor and thereafter operate in reverse to a second operation end. The second process includes computing a neutral position of the steering wheel based on a rotational angle of the motor at a time when reverse operation of the steering wheel is started and at a time when the reverse operation of the steering wheel is ended.
STEERING SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE
Provided is a steer-by-wire steering system (1) for a vehicle (2) that can appropriately bring the steered angle of the wheels to a prescribed relationship to the steering angle of a steering member (10) even when the steering angle of the steering member was changed while the vehicle was parked. When the steered angle of the wheels deviates from the prescribed relationship with the steering angle of the steering member upon startup (ST2: Yes), the control unit (15) drives at least one of the steering actuator (12) and the reaction force actuator (13) to bring the steered angle (α) of the wheels closer to the prescribed relationship with the steering angle (β) of the steering member (ST12) using a change in the transmission shift position from the park position (P) or the neutral position (N) to the travel position (D or R) as a trigger (ST8: Yes).
Steering Column Retraction Initiator
A handwheel actuator for a steer by wire system of a vehicle may include a column for operably coupling a handwheel to other components of the steer by wire system and a feedback actuator operably coupled to the column to provide tactile feedback to the operator responsive to movement of the handwheel. The column may include a lower column portion and an upper column portion that are movable relative to each other to alternately retract the handwheel away from an operator seated in the vehicle or extend the handwheel toward the operator. The column may further include a frictional engagement assembly and a time-specific release initiator. The frictional engagement assembly may be engaged to fix the lower column portion relative to the upper column portion at a selected distance from the operator, and disengaged to enable movement of the upper column portion relative to the lower column portion. The time-specific release initiator may be actuated by an electrical trigger signal to cause the lower column portion and the upper column portion to be disengaged a selected time after a triggering event.
