The calculation process at each sampling moment includes: calculating a first calculated value based on a yaw velocity of the vehicle, a vehicle velocity and a wheelbase; calculating a second calculated value based on a vehicle velocity, a lateral acceleration of the vehicle and the wheelbase; calculating a third calculated value based on a rotating angle of the steering wheel and a steering gear ratio; and calculating a steering angle of the front wheel at a current sampling moment based on the first, second and third calculated value of the steering angle of the front wheel.

A combined angular position and torque sensor assembly for use in an electric power assisted steering system having an input part for connection to an upper column shaft, an output part for connection to a lower column shaft, a torsion bar that interconnects the input shaft and the output shaft, first and second upper column angular position sensors that each produce at least one output signal that is dependent on the angular position of the upper column shaft; and a processing means unit which produces a first torque signal indicative of the torque carried by the torsion bar. The processing unit further includes a component for producing a first absolute angular position signal by processing the output signals of the first and secondary sensors in a first way and a second absolute angular position signal processing the output of the same two sensors in a different way, and further includes a cross checker that performs a cross check between the two absolute position signals.

Provided is an apparatus and method for detecting steering information in which a plurality of torque sensors and sensors for sensing a rotation angle of a steering shaft are provided and thus it is possible to calculate steering information, such as a steering torque, a steering angle, etc., even upon occurrence of failure in some sensors. A plurality of torque sensors and absolute angle sensors (rotation angle sensors) are provided, and after it is determined whether an output value of each sensor is synchronized, a torque and a steering angle are calculated accordingly. Therefore, even upon occurrence of failure in some sensors, it is possible to calculate a torque and a steering angle normally, and thus steering control is possible.

The present disclosure relates to a steering control apparatus and method, the apparatus comprising: a reception unit which receives an ignition-off signal and an ignition-on signal, and which receives relative steering angle information received from a relative steering angle sensor for measuring only the relative angle of a steering wheel; a calculation unit which calculates section information by using the relative steering angle information, and which calculates absolute steering angle information on the basis of the relative steering angle information and the section information; and a control unit which determines, when the ignition-off signal is received, whether absolute steering angle calculation conditions enabling calculation of the absolute steering angle information are satisfied even after the ignition is off, and which generates an ignition-off control signal according to the determination result.
