Method for determining a maximum speed limit for a reversing vehicle combination

A method is provided for determining a maximum speed limit for a reversing vehicle combination that includes a towing vehicle and at least one towed trailer. The method includes determining a maneuver that is to be performed by the vehicle combination, simulating the complete maneuver in advance by using a control algorithm and a state space model, thereby obtaining the steering behavior of the vehicle combination during the maneuver, and calculating the maximum speed limit for the vehicle combination during the maneuver by using at least one predefined limiting condition. A maximum speed limit for a reverse assistance function can be estimated in advance, which allows for a faster and more efficient reversing of the vehicle combination, and at the same time allows for an improved comfort for the driver.

Method and system for displaying probability of a collision

A maneuvering assistance system for a vehicle determines a scalar field representing the probability of collision with an object at locations proximate to the vehicle with a controller located within the vehicle. The probability of collision is determined based on information received indicative of vehicle motion and the proximity of the object to the vehicle, and the field of collision probability is then communicated as a visual representation to an operator of the vehicle.

System And Method For Displaying A Forward Drive Trajectory, Providing A Jackknifing Warning And Providing A Trailer Turn Aid

A system according to the principles of the present disclosure includes an expected trajectory module and an electronic display. The expected trajectory module determines an expected forward drive trajectory of a vehicle and determines an expected forward drive trajectory of a trailer being towed by the vehicle. The electronic display displays the expected forward drive trajectories of the vehicle and the trailer.

Vehicular driving assist system

A vehicular driving assist system includes a plurality of cameras disposed at a vehicle and an image processor that processes captured image data. With a trailer equipped with at least one trailer camera hitched to the vehicle, a display screen displays video images derived from captured image data. The system determines a reversing path for the vehicle and trailer to follow to assist the driver in backing up the trailer, and generates a graphic overlay at the display screen that indicates the determined reversing path. During the backing up maneuver of the trailer hitched to the vehicle, and responsive to determination of an object rearward of the trailer, the system (i) determines an adjusted reversing path to avoid the object and (ii) adjusts the graphic overlay to indicate the adjusted reversing path of the vehicle and trailer for the driver to follow in backing up the trailer.

Drive assist device

Display of a drive assist by a virtual image is understandably presented to a driver. A drive assist device 1, which displays a virtual image 35 including a vehicle mark 76 on a vehicle 2 and assists driving by moving the vehicle mark 76, is configured to be provided with a relative-value converting unit 62 which converts a recommended driving operation to be shown to a driver 3 to a relative value based on a driving operation of present time; wherein the vehicle mark 76 is moved by a movement amount corresponding to the relative value to notify the driver 3 of the recommended driving operation.

Method and device for parking a vehicle

A method for assisting a reverse parking maneuver of a motor vehicle equipped with a rear-view camera system into a longitudinal parking space, wherein the image of the surroundings to the rear of the motor vehicle is displayed on a display of the motor vehicle. For the determination of the parking position on both sides of the vehicle, two 3D symbols, in particular 3D cuboids, are respectively blended into the image of the rear-view camera system, wherein the distance between two 3D symbols corresponds to one side of a minimum parking space for the motor vehicle.

DISPLAY CONTROL DEVICE AND INFORMATION DISPLAY DEVICE

A display control device and an information display device will be provided which help, when a vehicle's abnormality is detected, the driver readily recognize the image corresponding to the vehicle's abnormal information item and accurately understand the content of the abnormality. A display control device 1 according to the present invention, which is to be mounted on a vehicle to control display of a display unit 6, includes a communication unit 3 to acquire multiple vehicle information items, a detection unit 4 to detect an abnormality of the vehicle from at least one of the multiple vehicle information items acquired by the communication unit 3, and a display control unit 5 to display on the display unit 6, multiple images each corresponding to one of the multiple vehicle information items, wherein, when an abnormality of the vehicle is detected by the detection unit 4, the display control unit 5 magnifies, from among the multiple images, an image corresponding to the at least one of the multiple vehicle information items from which the abnormality is detected, to be displayed on the display unit 6.

A display apparatus, a vehicle including the same, includes a sensor unit configured to acquire vehicle periphery information, and an interface unit configured to acquire vehicle state information. The display apparatus also includes a display unit configured to display a first indicator indicating a target steering direction, a third indicator indicating a current steering state, and a second indicator displayed at a position between the first indicator and the third indicator. The display apparatus also includes a processor configured to determine the target steering direction based on the vehicle state information and the vehicle periphery information.

ENHANCED VEHICLE LATERAL CONTROL (LANE FOLLOWING/LANE KEEPING/LANE CHANGING CONTROL) FOR TRAILERING VEHICLES
20170247054 · 2017-08-31 ·

A method for providing a warning that a trailer being towed by a vehicle will cross out of a travel lane when in a curve for the current vehicle path prior to the vehicle entering the curve. The method determines that the vehicle is approaching the curve, determines a radius of curvature of the curve, determines a lane width of the travel lane, and identifying a length of the trailer. The method also determines a predicted steering angle of the vehicle necessary to follow the radius of curvature of the curve, a turn radius of the vehicle for traveling through the curve using the predicted steering angle, and a turn radius of the trailer using the turn radius of the vehicle. The method then determines whether the trailer will cross out of the travel lane based on the curvature of the curve and the turn radius of the trailer.

VEHICULAR MULTI-CAMERA SURROUND VIEW SYSTEM WITH VIDEO DISPLAY
20220032843 · 2022-02-03 ·

A vehicular multi-camera surround view system includes a front camera, a driver-side camera, a passenger-side camera and a rear backup camera. Image data captured by the cameras is conveyed to an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is operable to combine image data conveyed from the front camera, the driver-side camera, the passenger-side camera and the rear backup camera to form composite video images, which are output for display at a display device. Rear backup video images are displayed no later than two seconds after the driver of the vehicle first changes propulsion of the vehicle during a new ignition cycle to reverse mode. Upon changing propulsion of the vehicle during the new ignition cycle to reverse mode to commence a backup event subsequent to the first backup event, the video display screen displays video images derived, at least in part, from image data captured by the rear backup camera.
