An automotive trim part is provided made of a laminated structure generally consisting of a thermoplastic core layer extruded from at least one feedstock derived from recycled material. The feedstock may consist at least partially of vehicle trim part waste from another vehicle, or trim part waste associated with an automotive trim part the same or similar to the part being produced. The core layer is preferably covered by fibrous layers and may be configured for use at least as a portion of a vehicle's wheel well.

MORPHING FENDER SKIRT FOR A STEERED WHEEL

A morphing fender skirt includes a rigid, open-ended arched base, stretchable exterior skin connected across the base, and a structural, bendable rib array connected over the base subjacent to the skin. The rib array is configured to bend between a flattened shape over the base, whereby the rib array imparts the flattened shape to the skin across the base, and a domed shape over the base, whereby the rib array imparts the domed shape to the skin across the base.

Mud flap for attachment to a vehicle running board

A mud flap is attachable to a selected group of through-holes of a vehicle running board. Plugs clamp to inclined surfaces of the through-holes, thereby firmly affixing a bracket portion of the integrally molded mud flap body to the running board. A flap portion of the mud flap body is connected to the bracket portion of the mud flap body only by a hinge portion. The hinge portion has a straight front surface, a straight rear surface and a thickness that is less than the overall thickness of the mud flap body. The flap portion has at least one wall portion that does not conform to any yz plane, stiffening the flap portion and inducing it to rotate around the hinge portion as a unit when a front-to-rear shear force impinges on the flap portion. A notch may be formed to interrupt an otherwise convexly curved rear flap portion surface so to receive a downwardly depending running board reinforcing member when the flap portion flexes out of its rest position.

Vehicle wheel housing system with heated wheel well liner and method of heating a wheel well liner

A system for a vehicle with a wheel housing includes a wheel well liner secured to the wheel housing and disposed in a wheel well defined by the wheel housing. The system further includes a heating element in contact with the wheel well liner and operable to heat the wheel well liner. A method of heating a wheel well liner includes determining whether an ambient temperature around the wheel well liner is less than a predetermined temperature, determining whether a weight of a load on the wheel well liner is greater than a predetermined weight, and activating a heating element in contact with the wheel well liner if the ambient temperature is less than the predetermined temperature and the weight on the wheel well liner is greater than the predetermined weight.

FENDER LINER STRUCTURE

A fender liner structure is disposed in a wheel house of a front wheel of a vehicle. The vehicle includes a sub radiator disposed on a vehicle front side of a fender liner. The fender liner structure includes a liner body portion curving in an arch shape to cover the front wheel from above and a lower wall portion extending to the front of the vehicle from a lower end of the liner body portion on the vehicle front side. The liner body portion includes a first vent hole penetrating a vehicle front side part of the liner body portion. The lower wall portion includes a second vent hole penetrating a vehicle rear side end portion of the lower wall portion in an upper-lower direction. The lower wall portion includes a negative pressure generation part configured to generate a negative pressure under the second vent hole.

An automotive vehicle includes a body with a front portion, an underbody portion, a wheelhouse disposed in the underbody portion, and a front fascia disposed at the front portion. The wheelhouse is provided with a liner. A movable member is disposed between the wheelhouse liner and the front fascia. The movable member has a venting position and a barrier position. In the barrier position the front fascia, movable member, and wheelhouse liner define a generally contiguous surface, and in the venting position the movable member is displaced at least partly away from the body relative to the barrier position. An actuator is coupled to the movable member and configured to actuate the movable member between the venting position and the barrier position. A controller is configured to control the actuator to move the movable member to the barrier position in response to a first operating condition being satisfied.

Motor vehicle with dust collector

A motor vehicle includes at least one air-conducting structure. That at least one air conducting structure is arranged downstream of a vehicle wheel in the direction of travel, for conducting at least some of the air in a wake of the vehicle wheel to a dust collector. A control unit is provided for automatic adjustment, in a manner depending on the speed of travel of the vehicle and/or of the spacing between a lower edge of the air-conducting structure and a roadway surface being driven over by the vehicle.
