TRACTION WHEEL APPARATUS WITH NON-UNIFORM TREAD TEETH
20180345720 · 2018-12-06 ·

The present disclosure relates to a wheel apparatus that includes a rim module coupleable to an axle and a solid tire module that extends from the rim module. The solid tire module includes a plurality of tread teeth that form a peripheral edge. The peripheral edge forms at least a portion of a tire profile. Each tread tooth of the plurality of tread teeth has a spatial specification that includes a circumferential width, a radial height, an edge shape, and a circumferential gap width. The spatial specifications of the plurality of tread teeth are non-uniform. In one embodiment, the solid tire module has a non-circular rotational trace. In another embodiment, at least a circumferential region of the peripheral edge comprises a sequence of tread teeth having sequentially increasing radial height.

Apparatus for converting a wheeled vehicle to a tracked vehicle

A self-propelled, wheeled vehicle convertible into a multi-track vehicle using one or more track assemblies is disclosed. Each track assembly includes a carriage with a main frame supporting forward and rearward idler wheels and a plurality of centrally located, inner bogey wheels, and an outrigger beam that supports a plurality of centrally located, outer bogey wheels. One of the idler wheels movably connects to the main frame and is movable by an actuator. The carriage is removably connected to a spindle of a vehicle by an attachment assembly. The attachment assembly includes a first section and a second section that generally encircle a portion of the spindle housing, connected thereto by a plurality of fastening elements. A sprocket is operatively connected to a wheel hub of the spindle by way of a spacer element. A flexible endless track is entrained about the idler wheels, the bogey wheels and the sprocket.

The present invention provides track assemblies and a method that allow bringing the contact patch towards the inside (the outside) of the suspension arm, by providing a asymmetric track assembly, either by lowering at least one inside (outside) support wheel relative to the remaining support wheels, or by using a belt that comprises, transversally, at least one first profile on the outer (inner) side thereof lower than a second profile on an inner side thereof.

PROGRESSIVE DAMPING SYSTEM FOR A TRACK SYSTEM

The present invention generally relates to vehicle and machinery in agriculture, construction, forestry, mining and powersport. It further generally relates to track systems and traction assemblies used with such vehicles. The track system comprises a drive wheel and a plurality of idler wheels mounted on a support frame. At least one of the plurality of wheels is operatively mounted on the support frame via a damping system adapted to provide a damping value dynamically varying as a function of the load applied. Track systems do not benefit from the damping provided by the layer of air within the tires. The disclosed damping system has the objective to overcome one this drawback by providing a smooth ride for tracked vehicles. The damping system comprises a cylinder fluidly connected to a reservoir. Damping ratio is varied by varying a flow circulating area between the cylinder and the reservoir.

Track device for movement of a vehicle

An auxiliary track device for movement of a vehicle. The auxiliary track device may enhance traction and/or floatation of the vehicle, such as, for example, by being installable on the vehicle to convert the vehicle into a tracked one and/or by being deployable to engage the ground in certain situations, including where additional traction and/or floatation may be desirable based on an environment of the vehicle such as one or more characteristics of the ground (e.g., a compliance, such as a softness or hardness, a slipperiness, a soil compatibility, and/or a profile of the ground), a state of the vehicle (e.g., a speed of the vehicle, loading carried by the vehicle, etc.), a user's preferences (e.g., ride quality, etc.), and/or any other suitable factor. The auxiliary track device may be used only for traction and/or floatation of the vehicle or may be part of an implement to perform work with the vehicle.

A track assembly mounted to a rotating wheel drive of a vehicle that includes a frame with inboard and outboard frame members having a center gap between them. A bearing housing is mounted to the outboard frame member. A hub adaptor has a peripheral wall forming a hollow interior that receives the wheel drive. Separate annular flanges are connected to and extend away from inner and outer surfaces of the peripheral wall and connect to the wheel drive and a sprocket surrounding the hub adaptor. As the hub adaptor rotates within the bearing housing, the sprocket rotates within the center gap of the frame. Idler are rotatably connected to opposed ends of the frame. An endless track is routed over the sprocket and around the idlers. The endless track engages with and is driven by rotation of the sprocket in order to circulate the track about the frame in a generally triangular path.
