Fifth wheel turntable lubrication device
A turntable lubrication device for lubricating sliding mating surfaces of a base plate and an upper plate, the device comprising; —a casing, and—a lubricating grease contained and sealed within the casing, which lubrication device is intended to be manually positioned on the mating surface of the base plate and ruptured under pressure of the upper plate when the upper plate is positioned on top of the base plate, thereby allowing the grease to be distributed between the mating surfaces. The lubrication device is elongated and plastically formable, thus allowing the device to be shaped and curved so that it substantially follows a circumferential shape of the base plate such that the grease is evenly distributed over the sliding mating surfaces.
TRUCK GOOSENECK FIFTH WHEEL TORSION HITCH
A trailer coupler has a fixed frame portion that is connected to a moving frame portion with link arms. The link arms are attached to torsion components that are affixed to both the fixed frame portion and moving frame portion with the moving frame portion located between ends of the fixed frame portion. The moving frame portion has a resting position where the torsion components are at rest and a displaced position where external forces have caused the torsion components to move. The moving frame portion can be displaced through rotation or vertical movement by external forces.
Autonomous vehicle having rotatable fifth wheel
A terminal tractor includes a fifth wheel coupling which is rotatable relative to a longitudinal axis of the terminal tractor such that an opening in the fifth wheel coupling may be reoriented depending on the terminal tractor's direction of approach to a semi-trailer.
FIFTH WHEEL, METHOD FOR DETERMINING A LOAD CONDITION AND/OR A WEAR CONDITION OF A FIFTH WHEEL AND METHOD FOR UPGRADING A FIFTH WHEEL
A fifth wheel configured to reversibly couple a trailer to a tractor including a coupling plate configured to receive a journal element of the trailer and a bearing block configured to pivotably bear the coupling plate about a pivot axis, in particular about a horizontally extending pivot axis, at least one distance sensor being provided which determines a distance with respect to a reference surface, the at least one distance sensor and/or the reference surface being arranged as part of the bearing block or on the bearing block.
Shock absorbing pin box system
A shock absorbing pin box system includes a first sidewall, a second sidewall, an upper wall, a lower wall, and a kingpin. The first sidewall defines at least a first plurality of apertures arranged in first column, and the second sidewall defines at least a second plurality of apertures arranged in a second column. A plurality of tubes extend from each of the first plurality of apertures and the second plurality of apertures. A plurality of flexible and resilient tubular bushings are received in a corresponding one of the plurality of tubes. A plurality of bolts are received within corresponding ones of the pluralities of apertures of the pin box and the plurality of tubes.
Fifth-wheel receiver cover
A fifth wheel cover is disclosed herein. The fifth-wheel hitch cover includes a magnetically attachable support with an integrated reel apparatus. Additionally, the reel supports a cover that is retractable, and the cover has a magnetic anchor bar on the end opposite the reel. The fifth wheel cover may come in the form of a storage box containing the cover therein. The storage box is then mounted onto a frame of a truck. A user may then retract the cover to provide protection to the fifth wheel from weather and debris. Additionally, a heated underplate may be included beneath the fifth wheel to provide protection from debris that may come in contact with the fifth wheel. Another embodiment includes a fifth wheel cover having a frame including foldable arms which extend a cover over the fifth wheel.
BREAKAWAY FIFTH WHEEL COUPLING
A breakaway fifth wheel coupling may couple a semi-tractor to a semi-trailer. In one embodiment, a breakaway fifth wheel coupling may include a top plate, a bottom brace, and a release mechanism that releasably attaches the top plate to the bottom brace. When a rollover event is detected, the release mechanism may allow the top plate to release from the bottom brace, thereby allowing the semi-tractor to separate from the semi-trailer. The fifth wheel coupling may include a pair of pivot rails that promote consistent decoupling of the top plate from the bottom brace. The breakaway fifth wheel coupling may reduce the likelihood of the semi-tractor participating in a rollover accident.
Retractable pull handle assemblies for fifth wheels
A fifth wheel for locking to a kingpin of a towed trailer includes an operating arm pivotable into and between a locked position for locking the kingpin in the fifth wheel and an unlocked position in which the kingpin can be removed from or inserted into the fifth wheel and a housing coupled to the operating arm. A pull handle is slidable in the housing into and between an extended position in which the pull handle extends from the housing and a retracted position in which the pull handle is retracted into the housing. A spring in the housing biases the pull handle towards the retracted position. When the operating arm is pivoted into the locked position the pull handle is forced into the extended position, and after the operating arm is pivoted to the unlocked position the pull handle moves to the retracted position.
Vibration and load trailer dampening system
The present invention relates to a trailer dampening system for dampening during variable road conditions experienced during long hours of travel. Secondly, the trailer dampening system encompasses a universal design that will allow for easy installation and application to multiple trailers. The trailer dampening system is provided having a barrel assembly joined to the trailer, a cylinder rod assembly adjoined to the barrel assembly by a connection assembly wherein a connection assembly first opening is configured to receive a coupler end cap proximal end of the cylinder rod assembly. In some embodiments, there is a reservoir system having a main reservoir, a valve assembly, and at least one connection line. In some embodiments, the trailer dampening system further comprises an electrical control system connected to the valve assembly and having an input device configured to receive an input, a battery, a plurality of sensors, and a microcontroller.
