TRACK ASSEMBLY FOR PROVIDING TRACTION TO AN OFF-ROAD VEHICLE SUCH AS AN ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE (ATV) OR A SNOWMOBILE
20180154957 · 2018-06-07 ·

A track assembly for traction of an off-road vehicle, such as an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) or a snowmobile, is disclosed. The track assembly comprises a plurality of track-contacting wheels, which comprises: a drive wheel; and a plurality of idler wheels spaced apart in a longitudinal direction of the track assembly. The track assembly also comprises an endless track disposed around the track-contacting wheels. A frame of the track assembly may comprise a hollow frame structure. The hollow frame structure may be dimensioned to impede accumulation of snow, mud, rocks, debris, etc. in the track assembly. The track assembly may comprise interwheel guides between longitudinally adjacent ones of the idler wheels to contact a bottom run of the endless track, and/or fenders adjacent to given ones of the idler wheels. The frame's hollowness, the interwheel guides, and/or the fenders may be realized during molding of a portion of the frame using a blow molding or other fluid-based molding process.

Lock plate configured to retain wear runner

A lock plate configured to retain a wear runner against a support may include a first retainer arm, a second retainer arm, and a web coupling the first and second retainer arms to one another. The first retainer arm, the second retainer arm, and the web may define a recess configured to receive a retainer pin associated with the wear runner. The first retainer arm and the second retainer arm may have a thickness configured to fit within a groove extending at least partially around the retainer pin, such that the lock plate holds the wear runner against the support on a side of the support opposite the lock plate.

A crawler track cover device for inhibiting debris from being dislodged from a track includes a cover that has an outer wall which is elongated along a longitudinal axis of the cover thereby facilitating the cover to conform to the shape of a track on a crawler vehicle. The cover is comprised of a resilient and tear resistant material thereby facilitating the cover to inhibit debris from being dislodged from the track when the cover is positioned over the track. In this way the cover inhibits the debris from striking a vehicle on a roadway when the crawler vehicle is being transported on a trailer. An elastomeric tube is attached to the cover for biasing the cover to close around the track when the cover is positioned over the track.

Guide rail for crawler track

A replaceable guide rail for a crawler includes a base that has a flange. The replaceable guide rail further includes a hole extending laterally through the flange that is configured to receive a fastener to secure a portion of the crawler to the flange, a guide member extending along the centerline and being configured to contact a track portion of the crawler and be worn down during movement of the track portion over the guide member, and a wear indicator positioned in the guide member configured to indicate whether the guide rail is in condition for replacement. The guide member has a thickness that is reduced as the guide member is worn down. The wear indicator is covered while the thickness is in a first range of thickness, and the wear indicator is exposed while the thickness is in a second range of thickness.
