TRACK SYSTEM FOR TRACTION OF A VEHICLE

A track system for a vehicle on a ground, wherein the track system may be designed to enhance ride quality (e.g., comfort), stability, load distribution on the ground, manoeuvrability (e.g., steerability), adaptability to ground and/or working conditions, and/or other aspects of the track system and/or the vehicle, such as by being movable relative to a frame of the vehicle (e.g., horizontally, vertically, and/or pivotally), resiliently supporting wheels of the track system (e.g., with elastomeric bushings or other components), and/or varying how much of the track engages the ground (e.g., reducing that to facilitate turning).

Specially fabricated wear plugs are designed for selective insertion within machined holes in a track slide, which decrease friction material below the surface of the track slide. The wear plugs decrease friction between adjoining parts of the track slide assembly and reduce wear caused through use of the track slide in various applications. Methods of fabricating the wear plugs are also provided.

Tapered Short Tunnel for a Snowmobile

A tapered short tunnel for use on a tracked vehicle, such as a snowmobile. The tapered short tunnel has a tapered distal end having a width less than a width of an endless track used on the snowmobile. This tapered portion reduces the snowmobile from catching or grabbing snow in a snow trench, thereby enabling the snowmobile to traverse deeper snow.

TRACK ASSEMBLY AND VEHICLE

A track assembly is to be mounted on a drive axle of a vehicle. The track assembly has a frame, at least one leading idler wheel mounted to the front of the frame for rotation about a transverse leading idler wheel axis, at least one trailing idler wheel mounted to the rear of the frame for rotation about a traverse trailing idler wheel axis parallel to the leading idler wheel axis, a single drive wheel assembly, and at least two slide rails. The slide rails have corresponding forward-facing portions, central portions, and rearward-facing portions. The forward-facing portions project from the front ends of the central portions by a projection that is greater than a length of the central portions. A vehicle having the track assembly is also encompassed. A kit of track assemblies is also encompassed.
