A system for braking a track module of a work vehicle includes a frame, a track module supported relative to the frame, and a computing system. The track module includes an idler wheel, roller wheels, a track extending in an endless loop around the idler and roller wheels, and a tensioning actuator configured to adjust a tension on the track. The tensioning actuator increases the tension on the track from a lower tension to a higher tension when a braking operation in association with the track module is initiated and subsequently reduces the tension on the track from the higher tension to the lower tension when the braking operation is ceased.

In exemplary embodiments, the same hydraulic signal provided to at least one other hydraulic component on the undercarriage to control another machine function is also provided to control one or more tensioning cylinders. For example, exemplary disclosed embodiments provide the same hydraulic signal to tension a tensioning cylinder as is provided to shift one or more two-speed drive motors. This prevents or reduces the likelihood of de-tracking without requiring a change or redesign of the swivel.

A grease injection valve 10 is provided having a valve body 16 including a flow path 15 the valve body. A foreign matter intrusion prevention valve 18 is provided at the upstream side of a check valve 17 in the flow path 15 of valve body 16. Grooves 47 are positioned around the periphery of a foreign matter intrusion prevention valve body 44 in the flow path 15 to provide communication between the downstream side and the upstream side of the foreign matter intrusion prevention valve body 44. When the check valve 17 has a functional failure, high-pressure grease escapes through the grooves 47 to bypass the foreign matter intrusion prevention valve body 44 and is discharged to an exterior of the grease injection valve 10. This can avoid excessive pressure caused by the grease backflow from being applied to the foreign matter intrusion prevention valve 18.

A system and method for automatically adjusting the tension of a track on a snow machine, or other track-driven vehicle, is disclosed. The system includes an axle mounted in slotted adjustment holes with an axle bolt or other means to fix the axle to the track guide of the track-driven machine. The system also includes one or more biasing members to exert a force on the axle. When an axle bolt is loosened, the axle moves forward or backward in the adjustment slots to achieve the proper tension on the track. The axle bolt can then be tightened to fix the location of the axle in the adjustment slots at the location that provides proper tension for the track. The system obviates the need to use complicated tools and procedures to properly tension the track.
