JIG FOR ASSEMBLY OF COMPONENTS
A jig for assembly of assembly components is provided. The jig includes a base portion and an upright portion coupled to the base portion. The jig further includes a biasing device having a first end and a second end. The biasing device is translatable between a biased state and an unbiased state. The first end of the biasing device is rotatably coupled to at least one of the upright portion or the base portion, and the second end is configured to be translatable between a biased state and an unbiased state. The jig further includes a support member comprising a first end and a second end. The first end of the support member is rotatably coupled to at least one of the upright portion and the second end of the biasing device.
Positioning Tool for Use with Front-End Modules of Vehicles
A positioning tool is disclosed that is configured for use with a front-end module (FEM) of a vehicle to align the FEM with a hood of the vehicle. The positioning tool includes: a body; a receiving member that is connected to the body and configured for engagement with the hood of the vehicle; and at least one engagement member that is supported by the body. The at least one engagement member is configured to interface with the FEM such that movement of the positioning tool causes corresponding movement of the FEM, whereby the FEM is aligned relative to the hood of the vehicle upon closure of the hood of the vehicle.
OMNI-POSITIONAL ADHESION DEVICE
Aspects are provided for retaining components of an assembly to a support, including additively manufactured (AM) parts of a vehicle chassis to an assembly table. A cartridge for securing the component to the assembly table is provided which includes a housing including at least one compartment, an adhesive disposed within the at least one compartment, a fastener removably attached to the assembly table, and a membrane lid enclosing an opening of the housing. The membrane lid is configured to receive a protruding member from the component such that the protruding member becomes adhered to the adhesive upon penetrating the membrane lid. The cartridge thus allows the component to be quickly retained in any selected position while constraining movement of the component along six degrees of freedom, thereby allowing AM and non-AM parts to be securely retained to accommodate strict tolerance and precise fit between the components of the assembly.
Drive Shaft Support Devices And Methods Of Supporting Drive Shafts For Assembly
A drive shaft support device that supports a drive shaft in a horizontal orientation during an assembly operation to a vehicle comprises an elongated support body and one or more drive shaft support arms that extend outward from the elongated support body. The one or more support arms include a mount portion that is mounted to the elongated support body and a support portion having a support surface that is configured to support the drive shaft thereon. A frame clamp is located at an end of the elongated support body and includes an upper support and a lower support that is spaced from the upper support to receive a frame portion of the vehicle therebetween and support the elongated body from the frame portion in the horizontal orientation.
SYSTEM FOR MOUNTING A DOOR HINGE OF A VEHICLE
A system for mounting a door hinge to upper and lower mounting portions of front and rear pillars of a vehicle body being transferred along a vehicle transfer line. The system includes: a jig frame installed to reciprocate in a vehicle width direction through a driving unit on a base frame outside the vehicle transfer line; a rotation index installed on the jig frame and rotatable by a predetermined angle through a servomotor; a vertical rotation shaft formed as a polyhedron having a cavity and coaxially connected to a rotation center axis of the rotation index along an up and down vertical direction; and a pair of clamping units installed through a mounting plate to a base plate fixed to each side of the vertical rotation shaft, the pair of clamping units being disposed at upper and lower portions of the mounting plate and configured to clamp the door hinge.
SPACER TOOL
A spacer tool for assembling a glass panel on a frame is provided. The spacer tool includes a body defining a central axis and a width along the central axis. The spacer tool includes a bore disposed within the body and axially aligned along the central axis. The bore is adapted to receive an alignment pin disposed on the frame. The spacer tool also includes a plurality of lands disposed on the body. Each of the plurality of lands is disposed substantially parallel to and spaced apart from the central axis, each of the plurality of lands is adapted to selectively contact an edge of the glass panel. Each of the plurality of lands is disposed at a distance relative to the central axis different from one another.
Device for removing, storing and installing removable vehicle doors
A mobile device designed for the removal, storage, and installation of removable vehicle doors comprising a wheeled base unit, a vertical frame and clamps.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ADJUSTING A PANEL ON A VEHICLE
A method of adjusting a panel on a vehicle includes determining positions of mounting sites on a body frame in relation to 2-way and 4-way master locator holes and calculating a position of an inner perimeter of a panel opening in the body frame in relation to the body frame mounting sites. Positions of mounting sites on the panel in relation to 2-way and 4-way locator pins on a fixture the panel is mounted to are also determined and a position of an outer perimeter of the panel in relation to the panel mounting sites is calculated. The panel is mounted to the body frame and a calculated position of the outer perimeter of the panel in relation to the inner perimeter of the panel opening is displayed to a fitter in real time who uses the calculated position to adjust the panel.
System and method for automatic adjustment of steering wheel
Disclosed is an automatic adjustment system for a steering wheel provided in a process line to support wheel alignment operation of a vehicle mounted with an OBD, includes a scanner for recognizing a vehicle identification number entered into the process line; an antenna that connects the OBD of the vehicle with the wireless diagnosis communication to transmit and receive data; a robot moves a vision sensor mounted on the front end portion thereof to the shooting position of the steering wheel in the vehicle through the attitude control, when the vehicle is seated in a centering position; and a control apparatus that analyzes the shooting image of the vision sensor to calculate the current distorted angle of the steering wheel and initialize by inputting the current distorted angle of the steering wheel to the steering angle sensor via the diagnosis communication connected with the OBD of the vehicle.
Rotatable vehicle frame jig
Devices, systems, and methods for positioning a vehicle frame in a plurality of rotational positions about an axis of rotation and performing at least two assembly tasks are provided. An assembly and a system that includes forward and rear toolings that engage and retain forward and rear portions of the vehicle frame, and that cooperatively rotate the vehicle frame about an axis of rotation are provided.
