A universal tube adaptor for a shock absorber includes a connector body, and first and second connectors. The connector body has intersecting first and second connecting holes respectively and rotatably receiving the first and second connectors rotatably therein. The first connector has a first guiding hole and an overflow hole perpendicular to, in fluid communication with, and cooperating with the first guiding hole to define an oil-filled space in fluid communication with the second connecting hole. The second connector has a second guiding hole in fluid communication with the second connecting hole and the overflow hole, so that the second guiding hole, the oil-filled space and the first guiding hole cooperate with one another to define an oil passage permitting damping oil to flow therein.

A suspension unit has a piston assembly connected to an adjuster. The piston assembly has three or more concentric cylindrical bodies including: an outer tube; an inner tube, and a dampener rod. The dampener rod is inside and concentric to the inner tube. The outer tube is rigidly connected to the dampener rod. The inner tube is telescopically mounted to the outer tube. The inner tube is inside and concentric to the outer tube. The adjuster has an adjuster compression entry port. The axle clamp rebound port connects to an adjuster block rebound entry port. The adjuster block has a high-speed compression cavity formed on an end of the adjuster block.

A mechanism and method for externally adjusting the mid-valve stiffness is described and enables adjustment of a mid-valve functionality without disassembly of a suspension system incorporating the invention. The effect of this adjustment on the damping curve is far greater than either low-speed compression adjusters or conventional high-speed compression adjusters. The apparatus combines the valve-stiffening system of a high speed compression adjuster with the sensitivity of the mid-valve.
