Boat and improved wake-modifying device for manipulating the size and shape of the wake
09573655 · 2017-02-21 · ·

Various configurations of improved wake-modifying devices for a power boat are provided herein. All such configurations provide a water channel and (optional) wedge for capturing and redirecting significantly more of the water flowing past the transom of the boat than conventional trim tabs consisting primarily of a flat plate. This increases the upward force applied to the deployed wake-modifying device and raises the stern of the boat on the non-surf side to list the boat to the surf side, producing a larger wake on the surf side. Some configurations provide a convergent water channel to produce longer, smoother wakes on the surf side of the boat. Other configurations provide a divergent water channel, which produces a comparatively shorter, taller wake on the surf side of the boat.

Provided is a device for suppressing pitch angle fluctuation in the main body of a seaplane, and enabling operation in higher waves. A float (3) is divided in the length direction thereof into a base member (3a) linked at the center thereof to a seaplane main body (2), and a turning member (3b) located at the lengthwise end of the base member, the turning member being capable of turning between a normal position for being positioned along the length direction of the base member, and an active position for being positioned higher than the length direction of the base member, a linking means (K(6)) being provided between the base member and the turning member to link the two members together in a manner enabling the members to rotate relative to each other, the linking means urging the turning member toward the normal position.

WAKEBOAT DRAFT MEASURING SYSTEM AND METHODS
20170036738 · 2017-02-09 · ·

Wakeboat hull control systems and methods are provided to permit the accurate reproduction of a wake behind a wakeboat. The onboard wake control system receives data from a draft measuring system. Incorporation of the data from the draft measuring system permits accurate reproduction of a wake behind the wakeboat after a change in an onboard variable such as the number, weight or position of passengers, the weight or position of cargo and the position of trim tabs or amount/location of ballast.

A wake-modifying a surf tab that can be attached to a watercraft is disclosed. That surf tab includes a control plate assembly, a mounting hinge for attaching the control plate assembly to a watercraft, a hydro-thruster assembly, and a separation hinge attaching the control plate assembly to the hydro-thruster assembly. Also included is an actuator attached to the control plate assembly which connects the control plate assembly to the watercraft such that the actuator can control the angle between the control plate assembly and the watercraft. a length adjustable control rod assembly connects the control plate assembly to the hydro-thruster assembly. The control rod assembly adjusts the angle between the control plate assembly and the hydro-thruster assembly. In use, the length of the actuator and the length of the control rod assembly can change the flow of water from the hydro-thruster assembly to modify a wake created by a watercraft.

A boat hull with a pivotally mounted hydrodynamic appendage
20170015386 · 2017-01-19 ·

A boat hull with port and starboard side walls that are vertical in cross section whilst the bottom of the hull immediately prior to the commencement of the stern part there-after is horizontal in cross section. Extending throughout the buoyant hulls stern part a longitudinally rectangular flat plate with port and starboard upwardly extending side walls, one each side, are located throughout the length of the vessels stern part. An upwardly directed second rectangular flat plate is arranged fore/aft extends midway between the afore-said side walls to a height in excess of the said side walls. This upstanding plate butts its lowermost edge onto the mid-line of the first said plate. Linking the forward edge of the said longitudinally rectangular plate to the buoyant hull at its aftmost and deepest point are hinges. Thereby allowing an aftwardly upward pivotal movement of the said combined plate, whilst the afore-said upwardly extending fin of the said combination plate to locate within an aftwardly open slot casing that is additionally open upwardly and downwardly, into which the said combination plate moveably but securely fits. Means with which to raise/lower the combination plate are provided. Single or multiple combination plates, as described, operate independently or together.
