Advanced Hydrofoil Apparatus
20200277024 · 2020-09-03 ·

Hydrofoils are a device that is used to decrease the resistance of a water traveling apparatus. It does this by creating lift on its wings which pushes the apparatus off the surface of the water, to reduce friction. My patent pertains to hydrofoils that are attached onto boards for various water sports. These board sports include, but aren't limited to, surfing, stand up paddling, kitesurfing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, wake surfing, and windsurfing.

Rapid flap deflection for high lift transients
10745107 · 2020-08-18 ·

A wing, a method of controlling lift on a wing, and a system to produce lift on a wing are provided. The wing may include a fore-element, an aft-element, a pivotable linkage that operatively connects the aft-element leading edge to the fore-element trailing edge in a span-wise direction, and an actuator. The actuator may deflect the aft-element through a predetermined deflection angle about the pivotable linkage relative to the fore-element within less than or equal to two convective periods. The method may include deflecting a span-wise flap through the deflection angle in less than or equal to two convective periods to produce high lift. The system may include a sensor to detect an input and a controller to deflect the span-wise flap of the wing by the deflection angle in not more than two convective periods based on the received input signal.

Hinge system for airfoil

A foil hinge system for a hydrofoil or airfoil includes a main foil body 1, substantially extending in a longitudinal direction L and a transverse direction T, a flap 2 hinged to the main foil body 1 arranged on a longitudinal end side of the main foil body 1, and a flexible element 3 connecting the main foil body 1 and the flap 2. Several rigid structures 4, 5 are arranged in such a manner on the flexible element 3, that they provide a dead stop when the flap 2 is in a maximum deflection with respect to the main foil body 1.

A Method and Apparatus for Motorized Sit Down Hydrofoil have been disclosed. By using a seat with a seatbelt and bindings to secure a rider to a top of a board having a hydrofoil assembly on the bottom of the board a rider can be protected from drowning due to an overturned board.

Conformal swinging hydrofoils

A retractable hydrofoil for marine vessels asymmetrically mounted for-aft on opposing sides of the hull of the marine vessel and a control unit for retracting the hydrofoil from a deployed position to a retracted position.

HYDROFOIL

A hydrofoil for a watercraft has at least one wing and one connecting rod for attaching the at least one wing to a mast. A conically tapered projection is provided on the connecting rod and a conical recess is provided on the wing which engage in one another. The wedge angle of the conical recess is greater than the wedge angle of the conically tapered projection in order to allow angular adjustment between the connecting rod and the wing. By means of a fixing device, the connecting rod can be braced against a portion of the conical recess and/or the wing can be braced against a portion of the conically tapered projection.

Aquatic moving body

This new art offers six add on motorized attachments for the benefit of the recent trend of hydro foil surfing wherein said wave hydro foils comprise a mast attached to the bottom side of a surfboard and a fuselage that has a large forward lifting wing and a small aft stabilizing wing and is able to lift a 250 lb man and surfboard approximately two feet above the water surface at slow paddling speeds riding a wave from underneath the water surface wherein said new art enables said hydrofoil surfboard to motor along on flat water at high speeds cruising or fielding for waves then said new art can retract a motorized structure completely out of the water while in motion to allow a surfer to catch then foil ride a wave or an ocean swell without power by means of two types of retractable motorized apparatus wherein the first type has a vertical strut that holds a propeller and cort nozzle in a down position motoring forward wherein said strut can retract horizontally up and out from the water surface wherein this retractable strut type can embody three similar versions. Also the second type has a torpedo shaped fuselage that contains a motor, a propeller and cort nozzle also embodying three similar versions that can travel up the foil mast stopping at said surfboard's bottom surface with the power shut off allowing the remaining under water foil apparatus to glide and free ride a wave or swell as it was designed to.

Underwater wings for providing lift to boats

The present invention relates generally to underwater wings for providing lift to boats. More particularly, the invention comprises an underwater wing that attaches to the hull or hulls of a pontoon or tri-toon boat. The purpose of the wing is to provide a designated amount of lift to reduce drag and improve performance of the watercraft. This is different from a traditional hydrofoil, which is designed to lift a boat completely out of the water.

TRUSS-SUPPORTED SKI-BORNE WATERCRAFT
