Training Device for Hydrofoil Watercraft and Methods of Use Thereof
A training hydrofoil system for connection with a watercraft comprises a first wing including at least one adjustable surface and a second wing including at least one adjustable portion. The system further includes a fuselage extending longitudinally and the first and second wing connected to the fuselage and extending latitudinally relative to the fuselage, the fuselage including an attachment feature for attaching to the watercraft. The system further includes an electronic control unit capable of actuating at least one of the adjustable surface and adjustable portion to modify a course of the watercraft, and a power source. Both the power source and the electronic control unit are positioned in the fuselage.
Autonomously controlled hydrofoil system
The present invention relates to a hydrofoil system for a waterborne vessel, the hydrofoil system comprising a controller, a foil for engagement with the waterborne vessel, the foil comprising a plurality of adjustment members operable to vary the lift characteristics of the waterborne vessel, a propeller, an engine and gearbox located adjacent the foil and operable/in mechanical communication with the propeller, a plurality of sensors in electrical communication with the controller, each sensor configured to monitor flight parameters of the waterborne vessel and generate measured flight parameter data, wherein the controller is in communication with the adjustment members, the engine and the sensors and wherein the controller is configured to receive measured flight parameter data from the sensors and to control the operation of the engine and the position of the adjustment members in dependence upon the received measured flight parameter data.
GEAR BOX ARRANGEMENT
The present invention relates to a gearbox system for mounting on a waterborne vessel with a hydrofoil, the gearbox system comprising:
a housing having an interior surface defining an interior space of defined dimension;
a gearing system comprising a propeller shaft engagement portion, the gearing system located within the interior of the housing; and
an engine located within the interior space of the housing and in mechanical communication with the gear box;
wherein the housing is water-tight and wherein the gearing system and engine are in thermal contact with the interior surface of the housing.
Further provided is a hydrofoil system including such a gearbox system and a waterborne vessel including such a hydrofoil system.
Steerable hydrofoil watercraft
A steering system for a hydrofoil watercraft, wherein a user may ride in a seated, prone, kneeling, or standing position while steering the watercraft without the use of his or her bodyweight. Vertical elevation, left and right roll, and longitudinal direction control of the watercraft is accomplished via steering, resulting in movement of the control surfaces (fins) on the hydrofoil, thus eliminating the need for weight shifting on the flotation device. An electronic remote and/or mounted joystick steering system can be operated either electronically or through direct mechanical linkage to control the direction of the watercraft. The steering system can include an unmanned remote controlled drone hydrofoil watercraft that can be operated remotely.
WATERCRAFT WITH LIFTING BODIES
A watercraft system is provided. The watercraft system includes a lifting body designed to generate dynamic lift during watercraft operation. The lifting body is shaped with a twist from the center to the lateral edges and with a chord and a fore-aft cross-section that both decrease from a center of the lifting body to lateral tips of the lifting body.
Boat having an improved ability to get on plane and improved method of getting a boat on plane
A boat includes at least three trim devices positioned aft of the boat's transom. To improve the boat's ability to get on place, each trim device is initially positioned to a deployed position. The speed of the boat is then determined as the boat gains speed. When the speed of the boat exceeds a first predetermined threshold, the first trim device is moved from the deployed position to a non-deployed position. When the speed of the boat exceeds a second predetermined threshold, the second trim device is moved from the deployed position to a non-deployed position. When the speed of the boat exceeds a third predetermined threshold, the third trim device is moved from the deployed position to a non-deployed position. At least one of the first, second, and third predetermined thresholds is different from the other two of the first, second, and third predetermined thresholds.
DYNAMIC FIN ALIGNMENT SYSTEM
A watercraft fin that dynamically keep a neutral alignment within the range of angles a user chooses to have and/or change in respond to the flow conditions so reducing drag. Hence, this invention is such to enable a fin to rotate within a range of angles via a rotary bearing and bearing housing which are to receive a fin having a journal base. The housing is to be fitted to a watercraft such as a surfboard, the housing having a changeable circular keyway to loosely receive a shear key at the underside of the journal base as to allow free circular motion of the shear key and correspondingly the journal base and the fin within the limits of the selected circular length of the keyway. In one form the fin is fitted with a root portion adapted to be inserted into a receiving portion extending radially in the journal base and trapped within the bore of the bearing.
SURF DEVICE FOR DUAL SIDE SURF WAKE
A towboat hull configured to shape a desired wake shape by creating an adjustable dual side surf wake as the vessel travels through water. Controlled shaping of the wake is achieved by a secondary thrust flow redirector unit that has flow redirectors that redirect the thrust flow from a propeller as the towboat moves in a forward direction. The flow redirectors can create a single side surf wake on either side of the towboat or can simultaneously create an side surf wakes on both sides of the towboat. The adjustable flow redirector can create side surf wake with a controlled shape that is desirable for wake surfing.
WATERCRAFT DEVICE WITH HYDROFOIL AND ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEM
A watercraft including a board having a top surface and a bottom surface and a hydrofoil attached to a strut. The strut attaches at the bottom surface of the board. The watercraft includes a movable portion coupled to the top surface of the board such that the movable portion is configured to move relative to a fixed portion of the board.
