Cleaning and lubricating device for interior and exterior guide track systems
09797551 · 2017-10-24 ·

In the art of sailing vessels, various styled tracks retain an edge of a sail. A retained sail edge is prone to fouling by environmental conditions and becomes exceptionally difficult to remove. A disclosed Foiling Rabbit 100 or track conditioner, cleans, lubricates and otherwise services the sail void area of a track or other sail retention area. A cleaning wick 400 may have main body 430 attached to a thickened or rolled interior edge and outer surface 430. An inner edge of the wick may be retained within a wick retaining cartridge 7. A lubricant cartridge 1 may be attached to the wick retaining cartridge. The lubricant cartridge may define one or more reservoir bodies 2a which may contain a lubricant and cleaning fluid. By use of various direct and indirect channels, and controlled capillary action, lubricant flows from the lubricant cartridge to a workpiece removes debris and lubricates.

Sail assembly using slugs and flakers

A sail assembly using slugs and flakers is presented. The sail slug has a plurality of rollers positioned along an inner edge that are received within a groove of a mast. The outer edge of the sail slug has a swivel platform that attaches to straps positioned on a sail. The flaker has a pair of leaves having a first end, a longitudinal section, and a second end with a bracket. The brackets of the leaves have openings that align to receive a torsion spring and an axle to hingedly connect the pair of leaves.

System and Method of Sail Propulsion for Sailing Vessels and Tugboats
20170158299 · 2017-06-08 ·

The invention relates to a system and method of sail propulsion for sailing vessels and tugboats, consisting of one or more rows of sails secured at their upper vertices or corners by means of the ends of masts, and cables or ropes located between the upper ends of the masts, or the ends of the radial arms of said masts, with masts provided in the bow and others in the stern. The sails are secured at their lower vertices or corners to rings fixed to the deck, to ropes or cables, the ends of which are attached to the deck, to small posts, to the lower region of the main masts, to the ends of radial arms fixed in the lower region of the masts, or to pulleys on which the cables are wound using motors. The rows of sails, aligned from bow to stern, include a mast at the end sails. Cables or ropes form the upper ends of the intermediate sails.

Sailing vessel provided with a transit part for lowering and hoisting said sail

A vessel is provided with a mast, sail, and halyard for hoisting the sail. The sail includes dollies configured to be movable along the mast. The mast includes a guide member, the guide dollies configured to cooperate with said guide member, wherein: the sail includes rigid panels, articulated two by two; the mast is equipped with a transit part positioned at the end of the guide member, which has a flared lower portion and is open at its opposite ends, wherein during hoisting of the sail, each dolly is received in the transit part and is guided along to leave it through its upper opening and cooperate with the guide member, while during its lowering, each dolly is disengaged from the guide member, is received in the transit part, moves along it, and escapes from it by following the movement of the portion of the sail with which it is integral.

Automatic locking sail track car systems and apparatus

An apparatus (100) for actuating a locking mechanism (12) of a locking sail track car (10) comprises a latch formation (116) disposed in a fixed position with respect to the track (14), a control surface (112) spaced from the latch formation (116) in a hoisting direction, and an actuator assembly (120) for attachment to the car (10). The actuator assembly (120) comprises an actuator (124) for operating a control member (24) of the car locking mechanism, and a latch element (158) connected to the actuator (124) and moveable between a first detent position in which the latch element (158) is not engageable with the latch formation (116) and a second detent position. The latch element (158) is arranged to cooperate with the control surface (112) upon movement of the actuator assembly (120) in the hoisting direction to set the latch element (158) into the second detent position, and is engageable with the latch formation (116) upon subsequent movement of the actuator assembly (120) in a loading direction with the latch element (158) in the second detent position. Engagement of the latch element (158) with the latch formation (116) fixes the actuator (124) in position with respect to the track (14) for operating the control member (24) of the car locking mechanism (12) upon subsequent movement of the car (10) in the loading direction, and urges the latch element (158) out of the second detent position and towards the first detent position such that subsequent movement of the actuator assembly (120) in the hoisting direction to disengage the latch element (158) from the latch formation (116) sets the latch element (158) back into the first detent position.
