Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide movable barrier, including: a frame having a first side and a second side parallel to the first side; a first exterior panel connected to the first side of the frame and including: a first non-planar profile; and a first plurality of perforations; a second exterior panel connected to the second side of the frame and including: a second non-planar profile; and a second plurality of perforations; a cavity defined between the first exterior panel and the second exterior panel; and a liner disposed within the cavity and configured to: deform when an air pressure differential acting on a first side of the liner exceeds a pressure differential threshold and allow increased airflow through the movable barrier.

Robust adjustable panel insert

A method of installing an insert in an aperture of a panel includes inserting a sleeve central portion into the aperture so that a sleeve flange opposes a first side of the panel. The sleeve central portion extends from the sleeve flange. The method further includes inserting a plug central portion into the aperture so that a plug flange opposes a second side of the panel. The plug central portion extends from the plug flange. The method also includes pressing at least one of the plug and sleeve into sliding engagement with the other until the plug and sleeve are installed. When installed, a distal end of the plug is received into a sleeve cavity and resilient beams defined by an extension of the sleeve central portion are elastically deflected by a wall of the plug central portion. The plug flange defines an aperture extending into a plug cavity.

Method for Producing an Armored Wall in an Aircraft and an Aircraft Section Comprising an Armored Wall

A method for producing an armored wall for an aircraft by determining an available thickness of the wall, an allowable areal mass of the wall, and an available space for a wall deformation due to ballistic impact. The method includes retrieving a parameterization of a plurality of armoring materials, which includes a parameter for each of a plurality of material characteristics for each of the plurality of armoring materials. The method also includes comparing the available wall thickness, the allowable areal mass, and the available deformation space with a corresponding parameter of the parameterization, selecting one armoring material for the wall from the plurality of armoring materials based on a result of comparing, and manufacturing a wall by supplementing the selected armoring material to a basic wall structure.

SECONDARY BARRIERS FOR USE WITH AIRCRAFT

Secondary barriers for aircraft are disclosed. An example secondary barrier includes a plurality of tracks to mount to a first monument in a cabin of an aircraft and a plurality of rods, where respective ones of the rods slidably engage respective ones of the tracks. The secondary barrier includes a panel coupled to respective ends of the rods. The rods to move relative to the tracks between a stowed position and a deployed position. The panel in the deployed position is to interface with a second monument in the cabin opposite the first monument. The rods are to extend between the first monument and the second monument when the secondary barrier is in the deployed position.
