The main wing includes a wing supporting skeleton and a plurality of skin supporting ribs. The foldable trailing edge flap includes a plurality of crank-shaped flap supporting ribs, a flexible flap skin, a connecting shaft, and a return spring. The plurality of crank-shaped flap supporting ribs are hinged with lower surfaces of corresponding plurality of skin supporting ribs through the connecting shaft to form a foldable trailing edge flap supporting skeleton that relies on the plurality of skin supporting ribs. The return spring makes an upper surface of a long side of each crank-shaped flap supporting rib attach closely to a lower surface of each skin supporting rib. The flexible flap skin is attached to an upper surface of the foldable trailing edge flap supporting skeleton.

FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM FOR AN AIRCRAFT

A simple, safe, and inexpensive flight control system in an aircraft. An anti-torque system for a rotary-wing aircraft has an airfoil with a first surface extending from a first trailing edge and a leading edge, and a second surface extending from a second trailing edge to join the first surface at the leading edge. The airfoil has a first moveable deflector panel pivotally coupled to the first trailing edge, and a second moveable deflector panel pivotally coupled to the second trailing edge. Means are provided to pivot the deflector panels in unison about their respective pivot axes to alter the direction of travel of the airflow downstream of the pivot axes over the surfaces of the deflector panels, thereby producing a lift in a direction perpendicular to the airflow to counteract the torque applied on the aircraft. The flight control system may be arranged within a fixed-wing aircraft.

VARIABLE-SWEEP WING AERIAL VEHICLE WITH VTOL CAPABILITES
20230086655 · 2023-03-23 ·

A variable-sweep wing VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aerial vehicle with distributed propulsion adapted for VTOL flight and horizontal flight includes a fuselage, a pair of symmetrical swiveling canards extending outward from forward portion of the fuselage, a pair of first symmetrical wings extending outward from the upper-rear portion of the fuselage and a pair of second symmetrical wings extending outward from the lower-rear portion of the fuselage. The first and second wings are spaced apart longitudinally and vertically. The pylon joins the first wing and second wing at the tip to from the box-wing. The wings can transition between VTOL mode or airplane mode. The wings are mounted with rotors for propulsion. Moreover, at the trailing edge of the wings, the blown flap work as blown lift system for both VTOL flight or STOL flight. Finally, the fuselage mounted pusher rotor provides propulsive thrust for horizontal flight.

ROTARY ACTUATION FOR THIN WING APPLICATIONS

An actuator system for actuating movement of a control surface of an aircraft wing includes a common input rail connectable to a means for providing movement to said input rail. The system also includes: a plurality of rotary geared actuators “RGAs”; a common output rail connectable to said control surface; wherein each of said plurality of RGAs is connected to said input rail by an individual input clutch and also connected to said output rail by an individual output clutch, and wherein the input clutch functions independently of the output clutch.

Ducted fans having fluidic thrust vectoring

A ducted fan assembly includes a duct having an inlet, an inner surface, an expanding diffuser and an outlet. A fan disposed within the duct between the inlet and the expanding diffuser is configured to rotate about a fan axis to generate airflow. An active flow control system includes a plurality of injection zones circumferentially distributed about the inner surface. The expanding diffuser has a diffuser angle configured to create flow separation when the airflow is uninfluenced by the active flow control system such that the airflow has a thrust vector with a first direction that is substantially parallel to the fan axis. Injection of pressurized air from one of the injection zones asymmetrically reduces the flow separation between the airflow and the expanding diffuser downstream of that injection zone such that the thrust vector of the airflow has a second direction that is not parallel to the first direction.

Air acceleration at slot of wing

Air acceleration at slot of aircraft wing. In one embodiment, a wing includes an air duct configured to transport air in a spanwise direction along a leading edge of the wing from an air supply source of the aircraft. The wing further includes a discharge duct configured to transport the air in an aft direction from the air duct to an aft end of the wing, and one or more nozzles disposed on the aft end of the wing and configured to accelerate air into a slot between the wing and a flap of the aircraft to increase lift and reduce drag for the wing.

A system includes at least one upper flexible skin intended to be fixed in the extension of an upper plane of the wing, a lower flexible skin intended to be movable in the extension of a lower plane of the wing and fixed along a trailing edge of the control surface, an actuator for generating a displacement of the lower flexible skin with respect to the lower plane. The displacement causes a curvature of the first, upper flexible skin and a curvature of the second, lower flexible skin having a concavity oriented in a same direction. The control surface system makes it possible to reduce the quantity of energy supplied by the actuator.
