RECIRCULATING BALL SCREW ROTARY ACTUATOR
A rotary actuator for a hinged panel assembly, e.g., of a fixed-wing aircraft, includes ball bearings, an outer cylinder, a piston, and an inner shaft. The outer cylinder admits fluid pressure from a fluid pressure supply. The piston is circumscribed by the outer cylinder. The piston, outer cylinder, and ball bearings collectively forming an outer ball screw. The piston translates along a longitudinal center axis in response to the fluid pressure. The inner shaft is circumscribed by the piston, with the inner shaft, piston, and ball bearings collectively forming an inner ball screw that is concentric with the outer ball screw. The ball screws form an interlaced ball circuit with one or more shared ball paths. Piston translation rotates the piston and inner shaft, and to thereby recirculates the ball bearings between the outer ball screw and the inner ball screw through the interlaced ball circuit.
Power-assisted aircraft crank device, and an aircraft
A crank device provided with an upstream lever and with a downstream lever. The crank device includes a phase shifter system connected to the upstream lever and to the downstream lever so that movement in rotation of the upstream lever about an axis of rotation induces movement in rotation of the downstream lever about the axis of rotation, the phase shifter system comprising a linear actuator mechanism carried by the upstream lever, the linear actuator mechanism having an outlet rod, the outlet rod having only one degree of freedom of movement in translation relative to the upstream lever, the outlet rod being connected via an outlet helical connection to the downstream lever so that movement in translation of the outlet rod generates movement in rotation of the downstream lever about the axis of rotation.
Portable external oil cooler process for performing hydraulic system functional tests on unfueled airplanes
An external cooling system for hydraulic fluid of an aircraft hydraulic system. The external cooling system includes a heat exchanger, where an input side of the heat exchanger is connected to a hydraulic fluid reservoir of the aircraft hydraulic system and an output side of the heat exchanger is connected to suction ports of a return side of an electric motor driven pump (EMDP) of the aircraft hydraulic system. The external cooling system operates on 120 VAC power and the hydraulic fluid does not exceed a maximum pressure of 50 pounds per square inch gauge. The EMDP pumps hydraulic fluid through the hydraulic system under conditions wherein fuel tanks in the aircraft are empty, and the external cooling system cools the hydraulic fluid as the EMDP pumps the hydraulic fluid, wherein the hydraulic fluid passes from the hydraulic fluid reservoir and through the external cooling system before entering the EMDP.
HYDRAULIC CONTROL SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COMPONENTS OF AN AIRCRAFT
A hydraulic system for a vehicle includes a hydraulic monitoring control unit configured to receive an operational signal from a sub-system of the vehicle and control flow of hydraulic fluid to actuators of components based on the operational signal. The hydraulic monitoring control unit is configured to bypass the flow of the hydraulic fluid in relation to a subset of the actuators in response to the operational signal indicating an altered operational state of the sub-system.

ROTARY ACTUATOR
A rotary actuator, including a manifold block and a rotor assembly that includes a rotor shaft and a plurality of arcuate pistons attached to the rotor shaft, each arcuate piston curving at a set radial distance from the rotor shaft, and each piston attached to the rotor shaft via a crank arm. A pressure chamber assembly coupled to the manifold block defines a plurality of piston pressure chambers that receive and at least partially enclose each arcuate piston, including a plurality of gland seals disposed adjacent the entrance of each piston pressure chamber to create a seal between the inner surface of the pressure chamber and the outer surface of the arcuate piston. Each gland seal includes an inner seal that engages the piston surface of the arcuate piston, and plural outer seals that engage the inner surface of the piston pressure chamber, forming a hydraulic seal.
Vortex generator arrangement and control system for an aircraft
A vortex generator control system for a controlling an aircraft vortex generator arrangement comprising a controller configured to receive one or more deploy or retract command signals from a flight control unit and further configured to send one or more command signals to a fluid control valve, a fluid pressure sensor configured to sense one or more pressure values from an actuator of the vortex generator arrangement and to signal the pressure value(s) to the controller, wherein the fluid control valve is configured to control fluid transfer between the actuator and a reservoir in response to a command signal from the controller.

Vortex generator arrangement for an aircraft
A vortex generator arrangement comprising a section that defines an opening to a corresponding cavity, an aircraft airflow modification device disposed within the cavity, and at least one fluidic muscle actuator arrangement coupled to the airflow modification device.
Bootstrap hydraulic reservoir
A bootstrap hydraulic reservoir includes a bootstrap chamber to hold hydraulic fluid, a piston chamber fluidly connected to a pressure line of the hydraulic fluid system, a piston having a bootstrap end portion held within the bootstrap chamber and a pressure end portion held within the piston chamber, and a hydraulic accumulator fluidly connected to the pressure line of the hydraulic fluid system. The hydraulic accumulator accumulates pressurized hydraulic fluid from the pressure line. The bootstrap hydraulic reservoir also includes a valve fluidly connected to the pressure line of the hydraulic fluid system between the hydraulic accumulator and an outlet of a pump of the hydraulic fluid system. The valve includes an actuator selectively moves the valve to an open position when the pressure line of the hydraulic fluid system is de-pressurized.
