An aircraft assembly is disclosed having a wing tip device connected to a wing tip of a wing by a first connector, a second connector, and a third connector. The wing tip device includes a front device spar and a rear device spar. The first connector is associated with the rear device spar. The second connector is spaced apart in a chordwise direction forward of the first connector, and the third connector is spaced apart in a chordwise direction rearward of the first connector. The third connector includes a spigot mounting formation.

A wingtip device may be attached to a baseline wing of an aircraft. The wingtip device may comprise a vertical portion coupled to the baseline wing. The vertical portion may comprise a leading edge and trailing edge. The leading edge and trailing edge may be nonlinear shapes. For example, compound curves, smooth continuous higher order polynomials, or combinations thereof. The leading edge and trailing edge may be shaped as to locate the wingtip device further aft than a conventional winglet design.

A wing for an aircraft, including a main wing and a wing tip device, a front blade and a rear blade of the wing tip device extending from an attachment end, a front blade leading edge extending in front of a rear blade leading edge and a front blade trailing edge extending in front of a rear blade trailing edge, in a chord direction, and at a front blade tip the front blade extending under a different dihedral angle than the rear blade at a rear blade tip. The front blade leading and trailing edges, as well as the rear blade leading and trailing edges have a tangent-continuous developing. The front blade leading edge extends tangent-continuously with the wing leading edge. The rear blade trailing edge extends tangent-continuously with the wing trailing edge. The front blade trailing edge extends behind the rear blade leading edge, in the chord direction.

The invention relates to a wing with at least two winglets and a respective airplane. An upstream winglet broadens a region of inclined airflow and a more downstream winglet produces a thrust contribution therein.

Embodiments of the present disclosure include a curved planar wingtip for a straight wing and a curved planar wingtip for a swept wing of an aircraft. The curved planar wingtips include a member that extends from the end of the wing in a direction aft of the wing trailing edge while remaining substantially planar with the wing. The curved planar wingtips curve continuously from leading and trailing edges of the wing to form a tip located aft of the wing. Other embodiments of the curved planar wingtip are configured for a horizontal or vertical tail. Yet another embodiment includes a curved wingtip that extends aft of a trailing edge of the wing by a distance greater than the curved wingtip extends above a top surface of the wing.

An airplane wing assembly includes a wing, a winglet and a connection element. The wing has a wing box. The wing box is located at a wing tip of the wing and the winglet is connected with the wing by the wing box. The connection element includes a butt joint rib, which is assembled with the wing box, and a center connection, which is assembled with the winglet. The butt joint rib has a first shearing pin hole and a second shearing pin hole, into which are press fitted a corresponding first and a second shearing pin respectively to form interference fit. The center connector has a first sleeve hole and a second sleeve hole.

An active wing extension includes a body portion substantially parallel to a wing of an aircraft, as if it were an extension of the wing. The body portion is attachable to an aircraft wing and includes multiple controllable airflow modification devices coupled thereto. By virtue of having multiple controllable airflow modification devices, the wing extension is capable of adjusting control surfaces of the multiple controllable airflow modification devices in response to in-flight conditions, to reduce wing loads, improve wing fatigue characteristics, increase range, and/or increase efficiency.

A stall trigger system is disclosed having an aircraft wing tip or aircraft wing tip device, a plurality of sets of stall triggers distributed along a span of the aircraft wing tip or aircraft wing tip device. Each set of stall triggers comprises one or more stall triggers which can be activated to trigger local separation of air flow over the aircraft wing tip or aircraft wing tip device, and each set of stall triggers has a different activation threshold. A control system configured to monitor a parameter, and activate each set of stall triggers in response to the parameter reaching its respective activation threshold.

A flow guide body for an aircraft includes a main body having an outer aerodynamic surface having a plurality of outlet openings, and flow control devices, each having an inlet, an interaction chamber, a first outlet and a second outlet. A first control inlet is connected to the interaction chamber at the first side of the chamber axis. The outlets are each connected to outlet openings in the aerodynamic surface. Each outlet has a control outlet. A second flow control device is arranged such that one outlet is connected with the inlet of the first flow control device. One of the control outlets of the first flow control device is connected to the first control inlet of the first flow control device, and the other of the control outlets of the first flow control device is connected to the first control inlet of the second flow control device.
