CUBICLES FOR BOVINE ANIMALS AND ACCESSORIES THEREFOR
A projection is provided on a side barrier of a cubicle or stall for a bovine animal, the projection being positioned at the open end of the cubicle through which the animal enters the cubicle. The projection defines a region of reduced opening width which forces the animal to straighten its entry into the cubicle, thereby promoting a straight lying position without reducing the lying area available for the animal within the cubicle. A straight lying position encourages the animal's waste to be deposited away from the animal's bed into a waste channel in the passageway outside the cubicle. Preferably a pair of projections are provided, extending towards one another from the opposed side barriers, such that the reduced opening width region is centred within the overall opening width. The projection is preferably provided as an accessory which can be mounted on the rails of an existing cubicle.
Apparatus for restraining the lower legs and feet of a livestock animal
An apparatus for securing the legs of livestock animals includes a frame also which defines an entrance and an exit and which presents sidewalls which extend between the entrance and the exit thereby presenting a chute suitable for the ingress and egress of a livestock animal. Near the floor of the chute and between the entrance and the exit are leg bars which are able to move between a retracted position suitable for allowing the lower legs of a livestock animal to move freely between the leg bars and the sidewalls and an extended position in which the leg bars are closer to the sidewalls so that the lower legs of a livestock animal are held securely between the leg bars and sidewalls. The apparatus can be used to secure the lower legs of a livestock animal and thereby immobilize the animal.
Self-Tensioning and Retracting Pet Safety Belt Device
A self-tensioning and retracting pet safety belt device is disclosed herein. The device permits a dog or other pet to move freely within a vehicle while securing the pet in the event of a collision or other rapid change in acceleration. Dogs, especially, enjoy riding in a vehicle with their head sticking out a window, and the length of belt required to allow this activity while securing the dog to the vehicle is too long to prevent the dog from being thrown around in the event of a collision. A shorter belt, on the other hand, would increase the safety of the pet in a collision but would not allow the dog as much movement as it would desire. A self-tensioning and retracting pet safety belt device appropriately increases the pet's safety while also allowing it as much freedom of movement as desired.
DEVICE, METHOD, AND SYSTEM FOR RESTRAINING AN ANIMAL IN A FIXED POSITION FOR A MEDICAL PROCEDURE
A restraining device for an animal. A body having a base and two spaced-apart walls define a cavity to receive the animal. At least one pair of side restraining members is mounted to one of the walls of the body. Each restraining member is displaceable away from the wall and into the cavity to engage a side of the animal. An overhead restraining member is mounted to the body above the base. The overhead restraining member is displaceable toward and away from the base to engage the animal. A tightening mechanism is mounted to the body and has at least one rotatable rod. The first end of the rod has a rotatable handle to rotate the rod and the second end has a cam engaging one of the side restraining members. The handle rotates the cam and displaces the side restraining members into the cavity.
AN ANIMAL REAR LEG POSITION CONTROL DEVICE, A MILKING STABLE PROVIDED THEREWITH, AND A ROTARY PARLOUR
An animal rear leg position control device includes a body having a lower side; a first lateral side; a second lateral side; a front end; a rear side, where a longitudinal direction is defined by a line extending from the front end to the rear side; a first transition area defines a first rear corner of said body; and a second transition area defines a second rear corner of said body, where the front end is configured to be turned towards a front part of a milking stable when the body is in an operative position, and the rear side is configured to be turned towards a rear part of a milking stable when said body is in the operative position in the milking stable. The first rear corner and the second rear corner are positioned at different longitudinal positions in the longitudinal direction of the body.
Animal supporting device
An animal supporting device having a having three primary dimensions of unequal lengths for engaging the abdomen or other body part of an animal at various support elevations. The device may have one or more trough-shaped channels for engaging the abdomen or other body part of the animal at alternative support elevations. The device may have a dog-bone-shaped outline. Other embodiments are described and shown.
Portable Animal Loading Chute
A portable animal loading chute includes a floor and side walls for transferring animals from the ground to a higher semi-trailer and smaller lower trailer for transportation. The whole chute including both the base and side walls move upwardly and downwardly to the height of the vehicle. What we did is make the angle of the loading chute is designed at half way between both heights so that a triangular gap is formed as the end faces of the side walls are not vertical and do not meet the vertical walls at the ground and trailer. Thus a small rectangular panel is mounted at each end of each side wall that can pivot to adjust to give the final required angle for to meet the vertical walls at the respective height.
Animal Handling Device
Described herein is an animal handling device in the form of a cattle crush with automated headbail capture, back bar operation and positional sensing along with methods of use thereof. The crush and method offer automation for functions that in the art have been largely manual and inherently labour intensive, physical and even potentially dangerous for the operator and/or animal.
Ergonomic pet carrier for single-person use
The ergonomic pet carrier is an apparatus that evenly distributes the weight of a dog against the shoulder and the back of a user. The apparatus includes a first shoulder strap assembly, a second shoulder strap assembly, a frame, a supporting panel, and a plurality of leg-receiving holes. The first shoulder strap and the second shoulder strap assembly evenly distribute the weight of the dog across each shoulder and the back of the user. The first shoulder strap assembly and the second shoulder strap assembly restrain the dog against the back of the user as the dog rests on the supporting panel. The frame reinforces the structural integrity of the supporting panel with the first shoulder strap assembly and the second shoulder strap assembly. The plurality of leg-receiving holes allows the legs of a pet to traverse through the supporting panel and comfortably rest on the supporting panel.
System for acclimating a horse to the sound of an arena chute gate and method of use of the same
A system for acclimating a horse to the sound of opening a chute gate of a rodeo arena in a timed chase event is disclosed. The system includes an arena with a chute gate, a recording and playback device, at least one speaker, and a controller. In use, a horse-mounted rider is contained within a box at the side of the chute. The horse has incorrectly associated the sound of the gate with beginning chase. The recording and playback device records the sound of the opening of the gate, which may be played back for the horse to hear within the box. Upon hearing the sound, the rider holds back the horse to prevent giving chase. Repeated use acclimates the horse to the sound and teaches the horse to wait for the rider's cue to begin chase. A method of use is also disclosed.
