A vehicle seat includes a seat with a seat pan and a backrest with a backrest bottom edge articulately being disposed adjacent to a seat pan rear edge. The seat pan and the backrest are positionable with respect to one another such that the seat is configurable into at least one of a taxi, takeoff and landing position, a napping position, and a sleeping position. A swivel is disposed beneath the seat. Base tracking also is disposed beneath the seat, permitting the seat to move in a lateral and a longitudinal direction. The seat also includes a first control to lock and unlock movement of the seat in lateral or longitudinal directions and a second control to lock and unlock the swivel. The swivel may be unlocked while movement of the seat in the lateral and the longitudinal direction is locked.

The present invention provides an aircraft seat unit comprising a main seat, and a companion seat, the main seat and the companion seat facing each other, wherein the companion seat comprises a seat pan, providing a seat pan surface, and a moveable seat element, the moveable seat element being moveable in relation to the seat pan between a stowed position, in which the companion seat provides an additional support surface for a main passenger in the main seat, and a deployed position, in which the moveable seat element provides a backrest surface for a companion passenger in the companion seat. The invention also provides a method of deploying and a method of stowing a companion seat.

A method and apparatus include attaching a lighted cup holder to a seating arrangement. The lighted cup holder includes a cup holder body and a light-producing light source, with the cup holder body being attached to the seating arrangement and having a cup receptacle therein, the light-producing source being disposed within the cup receptacle for illuminating the receptacle. A light-sensitive element operatively connected to the light source selectively controls production of light by the light source in such a manner that illumination of the cup holder is provided only under conditions where visibility is reduced to the point that it becomes difficult to locate the cup holder. The light-sensitive element is mounted on a master lighted cup holder and controls illumination of the master lighted cup holder and one or more slave lighted cup holders operatively connected to the master lighted cup holder.

Described is an aircraft suite having an aircraft seat for use by a passenger, the aircraft suite also having a controller, for controlling a number of output states of the aircraft suite, the controller having a logic condition receiver for receiving a logic condition input, and distance measurement equipment for measuring a distance between a first location within the suite and a second location within the suite, and providing a distance input to a distance receiver of the controller, wherein, in use, the controller controls at least one of the output states of the aircraft suite based upon both the logic condition input and the distance input. The invention also provides a method of controlling an environment within an aircraft suite.

When the one or more elastic members are secured to a rear surface of a vehicle seat back or to a literature pocket positioned on the rear surface of a vehicle seat back, the one or more elastic members urge the shaped surface of the grip towards the rear surface of the seat back, or of a literature pocket positioned between the grip and the rear surface of the seat back, such that when a rolled-up newspaper is positioned between the shaped surface of the grip and the rear surface of the seat back or the rear surface of the literature pocket, the newspaper is held in place between the shaped surface of the grip and the seat back or the literature pocket.

An aircraft seat for an aircraft passenger compartment suite may include a primary section with an upper actuatable portion and a lower actuatable portion. The primary section may be configured to actuate between a primary upright position and a primary lie-flat position. The aircraft seat may include an auxiliary section including an auxiliary seatback portion coupled to a privacy shell element of the aircraft passenger compartment suite and an auxiliary seat base portion configured to actuate between an auxiliary upright position and an auxiliary lie-flat position. The auxiliary seatback portion may include an actuatable element. The actuatable element may be configured to actuate between an open position and a closed position. The actuatable element may be configured to provide access to a stowage compartment when the actuatable element is in the open position.

Foreign object detection for passenger-accessible stowage compartments

Systems and methods relating to foreign object detection with respect to passenger-accessible stowage compartments are provided. According to one example, sensor data is captured via a sensor subsystem that includes a sensor associated with each of a plurality of stowage compartments. For each of the stowage compartments, a baseline condition is identified in which foreign objects are absent from the stowage compartment. A foreign object is detected within a stowage compartment based on the sensor data received for the stowage compartment and the baseline condition identified for the stowage compartment. An audit of the stowage compartments is conducted, and based on the audit, an indication that the foreign object is detected within the stowage compartment is output. This indication may identify the stowage compartment containing the foreign object among the plurality of stowage compartments.
