A seating assembly may employ one or more of: a seat stagger, a seat overlap, and a seat angling to offer significant width and comfort gains and reduce the negative impact of width and leg room gains on seating density. With one seat of a pair staggered forward with respect to the other seat each may then be moved laterally and overlap (as seen from the front). The seating positions may be further improved by angling each seat away from their center arm rest area, reducing the encroaching effect of the overlap by pointing the passenger away from the overlap, reducing the visual impact of the staggered seating by pointing the passenger away from the nearest seat ahead, and improving leg room by directing the passenger's legs forward at an angle.

Upholstery-guided footrest

An upholstery-guided footrest includes a footrest mechanically coupled to a seat. The footrest is configured for moving between a stowed position and one or more deployed positions. A flexible member has a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The first end is fastened to the seat and the second end is fastened to the footrest such that the flexible member supports the footrest during stowing. The flexible member bends around a frontside of the seat and is configured to guide and support the footrest into a stowed position.

Transformable seat assembly

Transformable seat assembly includes a seat support structure and back support structure connected with an axis of rotation. Actuator assembly includes a cylinder and a piston positioned within the cylinder. The cylinder is secured to one of the back support structure or the seat support structure and the piston is secured to other of the one of the back support structure or the seat support structure. With blocking member in a first position, the piston is permitted to travel between the blocking member and an end of the cylinder spaced apart from the blocking member, such that with the piston traveling to the end of the cylinder, rotation of back support structure is limited from rotating beyond a first reclined position and with blocking member in a second position, back support structure is permitted to rotate into an overlying position relative to the seat support structure.

USING FOAM FOR STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS OF A SEAT ASSEMBLY

Seat assemblies (200) including structural components (212, 222, 232) made of foam are described. A seat sub-assembly (210, 220, 230) can include a frame (214, 224, 234) and a foam support (212, 222, 232). The foam support (212, 222, 232) can be coupled to the frame (214, 224, 234) for receiving a load on the seat sub-assembly (210, 220, 230), dissipating at least half of the load, and dispersing the load through the frame (214, 224, 234).

COMPACT STOWABLE TRAVEL ACCESSORY SYSTEM

A stowable travel accessory system that includes a head set and a leg-set for providing full support for the head, the neck and the legs of a passenger. The sets are adapted to be encapsulated together into a compact package. The head set includes an elastic jacket to be dressed on the headrest of the passenger's seat, two cushions for supporting the head, rear straps enable adjustment of the head set to the seats in different aircrafts, and encapsulating the cushions when being folded. The leg-set includes a foldable rigid foot-rest for carrying the weight of the legs, a belt, a buckle for creating a grasping loop from a segment of the belt, into which the cushions are inserted when encapsulated, such that when the strap is stretched, the length of the grasping loop will be reduced to be firmly tightened around the encapsulated head set.

AIRCRAFT PASSENGER SEAT LEG ANTI-RATTLE WITH POSITION RESTRICTION

An anti-rattle system for a passenger seat includes a foot pad. The foot pad includes an upper surface, a lower surface, and a protrusion extending outward from the lower surface of the foot pad. A method of securing a passenger seat with the anti-rattle system includes providing a seat track defining a track channel. The method further includes securing a leg assembly of the passenger seat to the seat track by adjusting the anti-rattle device such that a forward stud of the leg assembly engages track lips within the channel and the foot pad of the anti-rattle device engages an upper surface of the seat track. Adjusting the anti-rattle device includes positioning the protrusion in a track opening forward of the forward stud.

Recliner sofa system for economy class seat

A passenger seat with a recliner sofa system includes a passenger seatback with a seatback frame and a seatback cushion. The seatback cushion is rotatable relative to the seatback frame between a stowed configuration and a deployed configuration. In some examples, in the deployed configuration, the seatback cushion extends through the seatback frame. In various examples, in the deployed configuration, the seatback cushion of a forward passenger seat abuts a seat base of an aft passenger seat. In certain examples, a method of reclining a passenger seat with a recliner sofa system includes rotating a seatback cushion of a seatback of a passenger seat relative to a seatback frame of the seatback of the passenger seat, and positioning the seatback cushion relative to the seatback frame such that a portion of the seatback cushion extends through the seatback frame.

Aircraft passenger seating unit and passenger seating arrangement

A layout of passenger seats in an aircraft cabin including a first passenger seat positioned in a forward-facing direction and parallel to an aircraft longitudinal axis, and a second passenger seat positioned to one side of the first passenger seat, in a forward-facing direction, and at an angle with respect to the aircraft longitudinal axis, wherein the second passenger seat is angled toward the first passenger seat.

Movable ottoman for an aircraft seat

An aircraft seating unit includes a base, a seat coupled to the base, a housing coupled to the base and enclosing frame elements of at least one of the base or the seat, and an ottoman. The housing defines a recess at a location below and to a rear of the seat. The ottoman is disposed within the recess. The ottoman includes a guide coupled to at least one of the frame elements, a slide translatable along the guide, a foot platform coupled to the slide, and an actuator positioned to facilitate selectively translating the slide along the guide to reposition the foot platform between a stowed position and a deployed position. The guide defines a translation axis that is angled relative to a vertical axis such that the foot platform moves both vertically and horizontally as the slide translates along the guide.
