In one embodiment, an ionization air purification system for the passenger cabin of a vehicle is disclosed. The system includes an ionization device for purifying the air prior to entering into the passenger cabin of the vehicle while minimizing the production of ozone as a by-product; and means for modifying the degree of ionization by modifying the energy levels applied to the ionization tube or ionization source proportional to the change in air flow dynamics or air quality.

The passenger service unit includes an air outlet assembly, a control unit electronically coupled to the air distribution box, an air gasper assembly coupled to the air distribution box, and an ion emitter coupled to the air gasper assembly and electronically coupled to the control unit, wherein the ion emitter is configured to be controlled by the control unit.

The electrode module includes a first printed circuit board extending in a first direction from a first edge to a second edge, a first positive high voltage track formed on the first printed circuit board, the first positive high voltage track extending in the first direction, a first negative high voltage track formed on the first printed circuit board, the first negative high voltage track being spaced apart from the first positive high voltage track by a first distance in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, a first ion sense trace formed on the first printed circuit board, a first ion probe attached to the first printed circuit board and the first ion sense trace, and a first connector coupled to the first positive high voltage track and configured to receive a first ion emitter.
VENTILATION APPARATUS
An apparatus for preparing a ventilation gas mixture, the apparatus comprising: a first gas feed configured to receive carbon dioxide via a first gas valve; a second gas feed configured to receive oxygen via a second gas valve; a gas mixing device configured to receive the carbon dioxide and the oxygen from the first and second gas feeds and combine the carbon dioxide with the oxygen in the gas mixing device to form a ventilation gas mixture; wherein the first and second gas valves are adjustable between an open position and a closed position in order to adjust the relative amounts of carbon dioxide and oxygen forming the ventilation gas mixture; and wherein the first and a second gas valves are arranged to be adjusted based on a G-force that is imparted on the apparatus.
