A gas turbine engine includes a compressor section and a turbine section operably coupled to the compressor section. The gas turbine engine further includes a means for selectively releasing a cooling fluid flow produced at a cryogenic temperature and a plumbing system in fluid communication with the means for selectively releasing the cooling fluid flow. The plumbing system is configured to route the cooling fluid flow to one or more of the compressor section and the turbine section.

A heat rejection system in a vehicle includes a heat exchanger to take in input coolant and to output a warmed coolant, a heat of vaporization device (HVD), and a heat of fusion device (HFD). Optimized environmental control system for military aircraft
An environmental control system (ECS) of an aircraft includes an inlet for a first medium, an outlet for the first medium, an air cycle machine including a compressor, a turbine, and a shaft operably coupling the compressor and the turbine, and a plurality of heat exchangers arranged in fluid communication with the air cycle machine. A first heat exchanger of the plurality of heat exchangers is arranged directly downstream from the turbine and heat is transferred to the first medium within the first heat exchanger. A water extractor is arranged directly downstream from the first heat exchanger and a flow path connects the air cycle machine, the plurality of heat exchangers, and the water extractor with the inlet and the outlet.
Vehicle cabin thermal management system and method
The system can include an on-board thermal management subsystem. The system 100 can optionally include an off-board (extravehicular) infrastructure subsystem. The on-board thermal management subsystem can include: a battery pack, one or more fluid loops, and an air manifold. An aerial, marine or land vehicle comprising: a compartment to be cooled; a first circuit through which can pass and, in turn, comprising, a heat exchanger that can be fed with the coolant and is designed to enable the coolant to release heat; a second circuit that can be fed with a second flow of a heat-carrying fluid and is thermally coupled to the heat exchanger; and supply means for supplying a mixture comprising water, inside the second flow in a position upstream of the heat exchanger and spaced from the heat exchanger, proceeding along the feed direction of the second flow along the second circuit, so as to cause evaporation of the mixture and cool the second flow in the heat exchanger.

An environmental control system is provided including a ram air circuit having a ram air duct and at least one heat exchanger arranged within the ram air duct. The ram air duct is curved about a ram axis. A compression device includes a compressor and at least one turbine operably coupled by a shaft rotatable about a shaft axis. The ram axis is arranged coaxially with the shaft axis.

A battery thermal management system for an air vehicle includes a first heat exchange circuit, a battery in thermal communication with the first heat exchange circuit, and a heat exchanger positioned on the first heat exchange circuit. The heat exchanger is operatively connected to a second heat exchange circuit. The system includes a controller operatively connected to the second heat exchange circuit. The controller is configured to variably select whether heat will be rejected to the second heat exchange circuit. A method for controlling a thermal management system for an air vehicle includes determining an expected fluid temperature of fluid in a fluid heat exchange circuit. The method includes commanding a flow restrictor at least partially closed or commanding the flow restrictor at least partially open.
