CARTRIDGE FOR MOUNTING LITHIUM HYDROXIDE SHEETS

A cartridge mounting an air treatment material is a housing defining a housing in a perimeter. The air treatment material is received within the housing, and spaced from the inner wall of the housing by a plurality of resilient sheets. There is an inlet direction into the housing for air flowing across the air treatment material and an outlet opening on an opposed side of the housing. There are top and bottom surfaces and side surfaces forming a perimeter about the air treatment material. The resilient sheets extend substantially continuously across the side surfaces and the top and bottom surfaces at least at the inlet end to increase airflow across the air treatment material. An enclosed inhabited space is also disclosed and claimed.

VARIABLE VOLUME AIRLOCK

An airlock for an extraplanetary environment includes an enclosed volume, an interior hatch separating the enclosed volume from a pressurized space, and an exterior hatch separating the enclosed volume from an external environment. The enclosed volume is selectably variable to reduce a mass of resources, lost into the external environment from the enclosed volume. A method of assembling an airlock for an extraplanetary environment includes defining an enclosed volume, positioning an interior hatch at the enclosed volume separating the enclosed volume from a pressurized space, and positioning an exterior hatch at the enclosed volume separating the enclosed volume from an external environment. The enclosed volume is selectably variable to reduce a mass of resources lost into the external environment from the enclosed volume.

Aircraft capable of passing from the aerial domain to the spatial domain and method for automatically adapting the configuration of same

An aircraft is capable of passing from the aerial domain to the spatial domain and method for automatically adapting the configuration of same. An additional breathable gas supply is provided to be activated only during a flight phase during which aerobic propulsion is interrupted, and is capable of supplying the control system of the manned cabin environment instead of the system associated with the aerobic propulsion means.

A fluid flow component has a fluid connection. The fluid connection has part circular end portions and extending side portions connecting the part circular end portions. A seal groove is formed in the fluid connection. The seal groove has inwardly extending components at an outer end to capture an o-ring within the seal groove. A circular o-ring has a circular cross-section received within the seal groove.

Closed loop data center and organic life ecosystem

Processing units and electrical power generation are integrated with a botanical environment to form a closed loop system whereby the outputs of one component serve as the inputs of another. Additionally, humans can be added to the system while maintaining the closed loop nature. Heat generated by the electrical power generation and processing units aids in the growth of botanicals and in the conversion of waste organic materials into both fertilizer and fuel for the electrical power generation. Additionally, carbon dioxide output by the electrical power generation is consumed by the botanicals, which, in turn, output oxygen consumed by the electrical power generation. Water is obtained by passing the exhaust of the electrical power generation across condenser coils, and is utilized for adiabatic cooling, as well as a heat transfer medium. Water is also consumed by the botanicals, aiding their growth.
