Counter-rotating propellers for aerial vehicle
An aerial vehicle includes an airframe; vertical propulsion units, and a controller. The vertical propulsion units are mounted to the airframe and include propellers oriented to provide vertical propulsion to the aerial vehicle. The vertical propulsion units are physically organized in quadrants on the airframe with each of the quadrants including two or more of the vertical propulsion units. The controller is coupled to the vertical propulsion units to control operation of the vertical propulsion units. At least two of the vertical propulsion units in each of the quadrants are adapted to counter-rotate from each other during flight of the aerial vehicle.
Systems and Methods of Calculating a Ballistic Solution for a Projectile
Systems and methods of calculating a ballistic solution for a projectile are provided. A ballistic system may include an airborne device, a ballistic computer, a data interface, and a flight module, or any combination thereof. The airborne device (e.g., a drone) may be operable to gather wind data along or adjacent to a flight path of a projectile to a target. The ballistic computer may be in data communication with the airborne device to receive the wind data. The ballistic computer may be configured to calculate a ballistic solution for the projectile based on the wind data. The data interface may be in data communication with the ballistic computer to output the ballistic solution to a user. The flight module may be configured to calibrate a flight path of the airborne device.
Environment Illumination For Autonomous Aerial Vehicles
The technology described herein relates to autonomous aerial vehicle technology and, more specifically, to environment illumination for autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles. In some embodiments, a UAV includes upward-facing image capture devices, downward-facing image capture devices, one or more illumination sources, and a computer system. The computer system is configured to direct the one or more illumination sources to selectively emit light into a surrounding physical environment while the UAV is in flight, process images captured by any one or more of the plurality of upward-facing image capture devices or the plurality of downward-facing image capture devices to estimate a position and/or orientation of the aerial vehicle, generate a planned trajectory for the aerial vehicle through a physical environment based on the processing of the images, and control a propulsion system and/or flight surface of the aerial vehicle to cause the aerial vehicle to autonomously maneuver along the planned trajectory.

Noise cancellation for aerial vehicle
A noise cancelation system for an unmanned aerial vehicle may have an audio capture module, a metadata module and a filter. The audio capture module may be configured to receive an audio signal captured from a microphone, e.g., on a camera. The metadata module may be configured to retrieve noise information associated with noise generating components operating on the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The filter may be configured to receive the audio signal and noise information from the audio capture module. The filter also may be configured to retrieve a baseline profile from a database based on the noise information. The baseline profile includes noise parameter to filter out audio frequencies from the audio signal corresponding to the noise generating component. The filter may generate a filtered audio signal for output.

An unmanned aerial vehicle according to various embodiments includes: a housing; a communication circuit, wherein the communication circuit establishes wireless communication with an external controller; and a plurality of propulsion systems connected to the housing, wherein the propulsion systems include: a motor; a rotation shaft having an axis extending in a first direction, wherein a first end is connected to the motor, and wherein the rotation shaft is rotates in a first direction by the motor; a cap structure fixed to the second end of the rotation shaft, a propeller including: a hub including a through-hole formed in the first direction, such that the rotation shaft rotatably passes through the through-hole, wherein the propeller is detachably connected to the cap structure, such that, when an external force is exerted on the blade, the propeller is released from the cap structure to be freely movable along the axis toward the motor.
UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES WITH STEREOSCOPIC IMAGING, AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with stereoscopic imaging, and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. A representative system includes a support structure oriented relative to a vehicle roll axis, pitch axis, and yaw axis. The system further includes multiple propellers carried by the support structure, and first and second stereo imaging devices, also carried by the support structure. The first stereo imaging device has a first field of view, the second stereo imaging device has a second field of view, and at least one of the multiple propellers is positioned forward of and between the first and second stereo imaging devices. The at least one propeller has a rotation disc that does not overlap with the first and second fields of view. In representative configurations the fields of view also do not overlap with other (e.g., any other) structures of the UAV.
Air vehicle system having deployable airfoils and rudder
A system comprising an aerial vehicle or an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) including: a fuselage; a first pair of airfoils rotatable between a retracted position and a deployed position, the deployed position extending out from the fuselage and the retracted position extending substantially along a first portion on an exterior of the fuselage; a second pair of airfoils rotatable between a second retracted position and a second deployed position, the second deployed position extending out from the fuselage and the second retracted position extending substantially along the first portion on the exterior of the fuselage; and a rudder foldable against the fuselage in a pre-deployment position.
