A feeder for feeding poultry and the like, the feeder comprising: a base including a pan configured to receive and retain feed; a storage hopper positioned above the base during use for receiving and storing feed, said hopper being operable to dispense feed into the pan under the effect of gravity; the base further including a housing for at least enclosing the pan, the housing including an opening positioned in between the pan and the hopper during use for allowing poultry and the like to access an internal space enclosed by the housing for consuming the feed retained in the pan.

A treat dispenser includes a housing having an interior compartment. The housing has an opening formed therein communicating with the compartment. The treat dispenser further includes a turntable within and rotatable with respect to the housing and an actuator coupled to the turntable. A selective access system, and methods of making and using such a system, whereby the selective access system includes a container having an interior space defined by a side wall disposed between opposing top and bottom walls; an opening disposed within the side wall, the opening communicating with the interior space; and a cover slidably engaged with the container, the cover configured to slide upward and downward between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the cover overlays the opening; in the second position, the cover disposes away from at least a portion of the opening to permit access to the interior space. An animal feeder system includes a container having a hollow interior configured to receive a product therein. The container includes a selectively positionable closure member configured to control access to the product. An actuator assembly is coupled to the closure member. The closure member is in the open first position when a first daylight period occurs, and/or when an illuminance level of a surrounding environment is at least a predetermined illuminance threshold value, and/or during a first time period.
