POLYMER FILM ENVELOPE PACKAGE FOR COMPACT FEMININE HYGIENE PAD PRODUCT, AND PROCESS AND TOOLING FOR MANUFACTURE THEREOF

A compactly packaged product, and equipment and process for forming the package, are disclosed. The product is contained in an envelope package formed of polymeric film, with a pair of substantially straight parallel oppositely-disposed side seams defining an enveloped width therebetween. The process and equipment used provide for the enveloped width to be relatively close to the width of the contained product, and for effectively secure seams of relatively narrow width. The equipment and process includes a pair of rollers with respective seaming and severing elements oriented along a cross direction, and forming a nip therebetween. The equipment is configured to simultaneously form secure seams in, and effectively sever, flow wrapping about respective leading and trailing products, and thereby effectively sever completed leading packages from trailing packages as the flow-wrapped products move through the nip. The equipment and process enables the described functions at a relatively high throughput rate.

Drug supply apparatus

A drug supply apparatus of the present disclosure includes a drug supply unit configured to supply a drug to a drug delivery position; a downstream conveying unit configured to convey a strip-shaped first drug packaging paper, folded in half in advance along its longitudinal direction, in such a way that the first drug packaging paper receives the drug at the drug delivery position; an upstream conveying unit configured to convey a strip-shaped second drug packaging paper folded in half in advance along its longitudinal direction toward the first drug packaging paper; and a connecting part configured to connect a downstream end part of the second drug packaging paper to the first drug packaging paper.

Apparatus and method for producing tubular packages

Apparatus (10) for producing tubular packages includes a packaging material dispenser (12) and a forming section (20). The forming section (20) comprises a progressive folding region (26a, FIG. 8) having a plurality of discrete, elongate external guide surfaces (50, 52, 54, 56) extending generally in the machine direction (A). The elongate external guide surfaces are spaced apart from one another and configured for contact with an outer surface of the packaging material so as to progressively guide and fold the packaging material about a longitudinal axis from a planar configuration into a tubular structure. The elongate guide surfaces may be arcuate and may be provided by means of guide rods. The apparatus may be a horizontal or vertical form, fill seal type apparatus. The packaging material (14) may be a semi-rigid packaging material such as paperboard, cartonboard, or semi-rigid plastics.
