Apparatus and method to form a cushioned package having an inner bag within an outer bag
A packaging device forms a cushioned package for securing and transporting fragile products, where the fragile products are secured within an inner bag that is coupled within a pressurized outer bag. In some embodiments, the inner bag and outer bag may be formed concurrently using an illustrative vertical form fill sealing device. The inner bag may include a first multi-layer material and the outer bag may include a second multi-layer material, each material having specific functional properties to protect the product contained within the package. During formation of the packaging, the first and second multi-layer materials may be sealed together, such as at ends of the package and/or along an edge seam created by an edge sealer. A width of the first multi-layer material may be less than a width of the second multi-layer material.
Bottom-gusseted package and heat-sealing method
A bottom-gusseted package comprises a package body, and a bottom gusset positioned transversely of a longitudinal axis of the package body. Formation of the bottom-gusseted package is effected by positioning individual sleeves transversely of the longitudinal axis of a flexible web which forms the package body. During package formation, the flexible web is cut to form individual packages, with each individual sleeve positioned to form a bottom gusset in a respective package. Cooperating heat-sealing jaws, including cooperating U-shaped sealing surfaces, act to integrate and seal each individual sleeve with the flexible web to form the bottom gusset of each package, with the heat-sealing jaws preferably configured to include cooperating top sealing surfaces for simultaneously forming a top seal in an adjacent one of the packages.
Method and apparatus for manufacturing a tetrahedral package
A method of producing packages from a tube of packaging material for a liquid food product, comprises reforming a flat web of packaging material into a cylindrical tube, feeding the tube of packaging material in first direction, filling the tube with a liquid food product, transversally sealing the tube, at regular intervals, into separate package volumes, wherein a longitudinal axis of every second transversal seal being parallel to each other, and a longitudinal axis of each adjacent transversal seal being perpendicular to each other, and wherein a longitudinal axis of each transversal seal is angled in a range between 15-30 in relation to a plane which is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the tube of packaging material. Also disclosed is a packaging material for use in the method, a package produced with the method, and a filling machine performing the method.
Bottom and side gusseted package and method
A bottom and side gusseted package comprises a package body, a pair of inwardly extending side gussets, and a bottom gusset positioned transversely of a longitudinal axis of the package body. Formation of the gusseted package is effected by positioning individual sleeves transversely of the longitudinal axis of a flexible web which forms the package body. During package formation, the inwardly extending side gussets are formed, and the flexible web is cut to form individual packages, such that each individual sleeve forms a bottom gusset in a respective one of the gusseted packages.
DEVICE AND MACHINE FOR MAKING FILTER BAGS OF TETRAHEDRAL SHAPE
A forming tube for making filter bags of tetrahedral shape for infusion products including a forming element, which is elongate and hollow, which defines a longitudinal axis and which has a first opening through which the product enters in the forming element, a second opening through which the product leaves from the forming element to be dosed inside a filter bag being formed, and an inner through cavity which connects the first opening to the second opening and inside of which flows the infusion product. The forming element includes a main body substantially tubular including the first opening and a forming end including the second opening and mobile in rotation with respect to the main body about the longitudinal axis.
Apparatus for making a flat bottom pillow pouch
The present invention discloses a flat bottom pillow pouch that can stand upright on its bottom transverse seal. The flat bottom pillow bag can be made from the same film as a standard pillow pouch and requires less film than prior art stand up packages. The flat bottom pillow pouch disclosed herein has no gussets.
A METHOD AND A MACHINE FOR PRODUCING A SEALED PACKAGE
A method for producing a sealed package (2; 102) for a product, comprises the following steps: providing a sheet packaging material (1; 101) having a crease pattern (20; 120), the crease pattern (20; 120) comprising at least a first transverse crease line (4) and a second transverse crease line (6), the crease pattern (20; 120) further comprising a plurality of further crease lines (8, 9, 10, 11; 8, 90, 91, 92, 93, 11) interposed between the first transverse crease line (4) and the second transverse crease line (6), said further crease lines (8, 9, 10, 11; 8, 90, 91, 92, 93, 11) extending transversely to the first transverse crease line (4) and to the second transverse crease line (6); obtaining a sealed preliminary packaging unit (200) from the sheet packaging material (1; 101), the sealed preliminary packaging unit (200) having a preset inner volume and containing the product; exerting a forming action on the sealed preliminary packaging unit (200) so as to fold the sheet packaging material (1; 101) defining the sealed preliminary packaging unit (200) and obtain a package (2; 102) therefrom. During the step of obtaining the sealed preliminary packaging unit (200), the sheet packaging material (1; 101) is processed without being folded along said further crease lines (8, 9, 10, 11; 8, 90, 91, 92, 93, 11).
METHOD OF FORMING MULTI-COMPARTMENT TOBACCO POUCH
Methods of forming a tobacco pouch having two or more compartments are disclosed. The methods include forming a multi-compartment tobacco pouch with a vertical form fill seal machine.
Reclosable packaging with a handle, and methods and devices for making such packaging
A reclosable pour-spout packaging, such as a bag, has a top handle and can be manufactured on a form-fill-seal machine. A reclosable structure can reversibly close and open the interior of the packaging. The handle can comprise a cut extending through the packaging. An additional seal area in the packaging can provide support so that a punch and die assembly can punch or cut the handle in the additional seal area. Additionally or alternatively, a laser device, a blade, a knife, or another cutting tool can form the handle in the additional seal area. The additional sealed area can provide stiffness for carrying the packaging and also prevent access into the packaging where the handle is made. The additional seal area can be positioned below the top seal of the packaging so that less material is used for the handle.
Hold-open device and package having same
A device for selectively retaining a package opening in a gaping configuration and a package including the device applied to a package body. The device includes a circumferential strip with side seams formed as vertical or longitudinal hinges. One or more tabs extend in a first axial direction from an upper edge of the circumferential strip at the side seams. Each tab is coupled to the circumferential strip with a horizontal or transverse hinge. The tabs are pivotable about the horizontal or transverse hinges in opposite directions away from the opening axis to respective folded-out positions, which inhibits the device from folding at the side seams and retains a gaping open configuration of the device and package. The vertical hinges include thru cuts or line of perforations that go through the entire material thickness of the circumferential strip and the one or more tabs and extend for a majority of the full axial length of the device. The horizontal hinges may be in the form of a living hinge or alternatively thru cuts or a line of perforations.
